The Commission voted 5-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness to strip and re-roof the home. Certificate No. 2010C-49 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman, Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin Jr., Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer 11 Hancock Street map 56 lot 57: Daniel Abramson presented two pages of photographs showing where storm windows will be placed and a copy of the contract with product description. The installation of these storm windows will match the existing storm windows. The Commission voted 5-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness for the addition of seven (7) storm windows. Certificate No. 2010C-50 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman, Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin Jr., Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer 26 Hancock Street map 56 lot 23: Mark Bradshaw presented a packet for two (2) Air Conditioning Condensers with detailed product information and proposed location. He also presented a computer generated packet showing different color choices for the entire house. There are color samples on the house which the commissioners will go look at before giving final approval on Mr. Bradshaw’s preferred color. The preferred color choice is the Sherwin Williams Needlepoint Navy: body, Super White trim, and Tricorn Black: sash, doors, and shutters. The Commission voted 5-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness for two (2) Air Conditioner Condensers. Certificate No. 2010C-51 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman, Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin Jr., Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer 5 Hancock Avenue map 36 lot 35: Mia Shapiro presented a packet Proposal for Paving Driveway with description of process, pictures of existing conditions, neighborhood driveways, and plot plan showing layout of new driveway. The Commission voted 5-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness for changing the layout and materials for the driveway. The Commission voted 5-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness for an accessible ramp on left side of building, raising the platform of the front porch, and window changes. Certificate No. 2010C-53 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman, Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin Jr., Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer 1556 Massachusetts Avenue map 48 lot 16: Luis Melendez, presented a written summary entitled “Request to change the exterior paint color of 1556 Mass Ave” date 9/2/10, and a sample page of the different paint colors desired on the house. The information presented was based on a preliminary report done by preservation consultant Sarah Chase. The Commission voted 5-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness for color change. Certificate No. 2010C-54 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman, Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin Jr., Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer CONTINUED HEARINGS 46 Bedford Street : map 57 lot 14A Eric Brown, presented design plans entitled “Proposed Pylon Design-June 10, 2010”. This free standing sign will be placed on Bedford Street. This will be a directory sign with a space for each tenant. They received the appropriate variance from the Board of Appeals in July 2010. The Commission voted 5-0 to issue a certificate of appropriateness for a freestanding sign. Certificate No. 2010C-55 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman, Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin Jr., Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer Island throughout HDC: David Pinsonneault, requested to continue for Signage (On islands around HDC) in Various Districts INFORMAL HEARINGS 1963 Massachusetts Avenue map 57 lot 7:John & Gillian Ross, presented preliminary plans for Exterior Architectural Changes to their home. Fix up the rear deck, roofing, windows, skylight; re-surface front path, and driveway. 1690 Massachusetts Avenue map 48 lot 31: Kevin Latady, representing, Turtle Bay LLC, presented ideas for Signage (parking signs). 1709 Massachusetts Avenue : map 48 lot 101: Kevin Latady, representing, 1709 Mass Ave LLC, presented for repairing the courtyard windows. 846 Massachusetts Avenue map 22 lot 74: Jeanne Clampa, presented the idea of an awning with wording to act as a sign. The commission did notice that the website and phone number were on the awning and would need to be removed when she comes for her formal hearing. MINUTES FOR THURSDAY, September 2, 2010 INFORMAL HEARINGS Cont. 1733-1751 Massachusetts Avenue map 48 lot 99Mark Maguire, Manager 1733 Vinebook Partners LLC, spoke about : : Change drip edge in rear in the building from copper to bronze. 1556 Massachusetts Avenue : map 48 lot 16 Luis Melendez, spoke about Attic storm windows 7 Meriam Street map 49 lot 8A Jatinder Singh, presented drawings for signage for this new restaurant. 1404 Massachusetts Avenue map 39 lot 52: Cameron Purdey, spoke about re-surfacing front walkway, a new retaining wall and changing windows and doors in his barn in order to make a habitable room in the future. OTHER BUSINESS As part of being a Certified Local Government, the Lexington Historic District and Historical Commissions must meet together once annually. That meeting will be held before the Historical Commissions’ regularly scheduled hearing Thursday September 16, 2010.
