OTHER BUSINESS Mr. Benjamin Cohen read a prepared statement regarding the deterioration of 1575 Massachusetts Avenue and his desire to have a multi generational center built on the site incorporating the original house. Mr. Cohen was under the impression that the Historic Districts Commission (HDC) is responsible for the maintenance of this structure and the HDC would begin the redevelopment process. The Chairman, Joseph Welch, explained that the HDC’s purview is fairly limited, but includes the review of proposals for exterior changes to structures for their appropriateness within the District. Mr. Welch suggested to Mr. Cohen that as a Lexington resident he could pursue proposals for reuse with the various town authorities and if a proposal is developed he could return to the HDC for an informal hearing to review its merits. Mr. Cohen liked that suggestion and would speak with some local organizations he is involved with.
