HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-03-05-HDC-Min Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission MINUTES OF March 5, 2009 Commissioners present: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin, Paul Ross, and Robert Warshawer Associate Commissioners present: Carl Oldenburg and Marilyn Fenollosa, and Scott Kyle Department Clerk: Amy Casparius PETITIONS HEARD: FORMAL HEARINGS 5A Eliot Road map 39 lot 23A: David and Peggy Harris received approval for exterior architectural change (rear addition). Certificate No. 2009C-11 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin, Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer 1840 Massachusetts Avenue map 49 lot 75- Brian Oberg, Bohler Engineering, representing, TD Bank, NA, received approval for signage on the rear of the building, parking lot and front alcove. This hearing will be continued for the other signage. Certificate No. 2009C-12 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin, Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer 14 Muzzey Street map 49 lot 40A: Raychel Greenwald, representing, Jeannie Redmond, Jzia Designs, received approval for signage. Certificate No. 2009C-13 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin, Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer CONTINUED HEARINGS Munroe Cemetery, Massachusetts Avenue map 48 lot 277 -David Pinsonneault, representing, Town of Lexington, received approval for signage. Certificate No. 2009C-14 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin, Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer 1605 Massachusetts Avenue Cary Memorial Building map 48 lot 169- Sergio DeMango, Representing, Town of Lexington, received approval for exterior architectural change. (moving the placement of approved air conditioning condenser). Certificate No. 2009C-15 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Daniel Griffin, Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer 72 Waltham Street map 48 lot 79 – Eric Zanin, wanted to see if the commission would consider concrete siding. The commission stated that concrete siding materials are not appropriate in Lexington’s Historic Districts 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 Minutes of March 5, 2009 INFORMALS 1 Oakland Street map 48 lot 94: Janet Tiampo presented plans for storm windows and the removal of existing aluminum siding. They will remove a bit of the aluminum siding to check the condition of clapboards underneath, and will report back when they are ready for their formal hearing. 1359 Massachusetts Avenue map 39 lot 6: Dan Dagel, did not attend the hearing. 7 Brigham Road, map56 lot 213: Michael Harriswanted to discuss tearing down and re- building his house as opposed to putting on the addition that was approved in September 2008. Mr. Harris was trying to get some direction to see if he should spend any more time on the idea. The house was built back in 1965 and has been changed significantly from its original plan. The plans for a new house would be the same as what was approved for the addition. The commission members are split as to whether or not they would support this idea; however, it is not a definite no. Mr. Harris is going to continue to look into this option and will decide if he wants to go for formal approval. 1775 Massachusetts Avenue map 48 lot 97A: Ed Juralewicz, United Sign Co., Inc., representing, 1775 Massachusetts Avenue Condominium Trust, presented plans for new signage. He is ready for a formal hearing. 1403 Massachusetts Avenue : map 39 lot 62Christian Herald, representing, Munroe Center for the Arts, presented ideas for flags and banners on the building and art work on the lawn.
