HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-01-08-HDC-Min Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission Minutes of January 8, 2009 Commissioners present: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Paul Ross, and Robert Warshawer Also present were Associate Commissioners: Carl Oldenburg, Marilyn Fenollosa, and Scott Kyle, and Department Clerk Amy Casparius Absent were: Commissioner Daniel Griffin Jr. PETITIONS HEARD: FORMAL HEARINGS 1444 Massachusetts Avenue map 40 lot 32- Ronald Wallace, Exterior Architectural Change (replacing the front side entrance with a window.) Mr. Wallace requested prior to the hearing to be continued until February 2009 1837 Massachusetts Avenue map 49 lot 8A– Jan Cadman Powell, representing, Depot Square Gallery, received approval for periodic signage. Certificate No. 2009C-1 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, and Paul Ross and Associate Commissioners: Carl Oldenburg and Scott Kyle Commissioner Robert Warshawer recused himself from this hearing 1775 Massachusetts Avenue map 48 lot 97A Unit 4 - Bernie Osgood, representing, 1775 Massachusetts Avenue Condo Association, received approval for Exterior Architectural Change (new window sash) Certificate No. 2009C-2 Voting Commissioners were: Acting Chair Paul Ross, Alfonso Hernandez, and Robert Warshawer and Associate Commissioners: Carl Oldenburg and Scott Kyle Chairman Joseph Welch recused himself from this hearing 1006 Massachusetts Avenue map 30 lot 81- Patrick Goddard, Town of Lexington, received approval for exterior architectural change. (changing location of exhaust vent). Certificate No. 2009C-3 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer and Associate Commissioner: Carl Oldenburg CONTINUED 72 Waltham Street map 48 lot 79 – Eric Zanin, received approval for exterior architectural change (first floor windows on side facing Vine Brook Road) Certificate No. 2009C-4 Voting Commissioners were: Chairman Joseph Welch, Alfonso Hernandez, Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer and Associate Commissioner: Carl Oldenburg 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 Minutes of January 8, 2009 INFORMALS  1625, 1605, 1575 & 1006 Massachusetts Avenue map 48 Lot 169- Michael Flaherty, Russo Barr Associates, representing, Town of Lexington presented plans for installing new storm widows on Cary Hall. They will also be repainting trim and fixing windows and gutters in all four locations. They are ready for their formal hearing. 45 Bedford Street map 57 lot 144- Lt. Ken Tremblay, representing, Lexington Fire Fighters presented plans for a small fire fighters memorial near the existing flagpole. They are ready for their formal hearing. 11 Hancock Street map 56 lot 57 - Daniel Abramson presented plans for a chimney cap. He is ready for his formal hearing. Betsy Baxter, Representing Elizabeth Alan 822-824 Massachusetts Avenue map 22 lot 72 - Condominium, presented plans for a new roof. She is ready for her formal hearing. 1403 Massachusetts Avenue map 39 lot 62- Christian Herald, representing, Munroe Center for the Arts did not appear at the hearing. OTHER BUSINESS Upon motion duly made and seconded it was voted 5-0 to approve the minutes of November 6, 2008 and December 4, 2008. Marilyn Fenollosa reported on the Historical Commissions project of applying to have Lexington become a Certified Local Government. The Certified Local Government program is administered by the National Parks Service and will give Lexington accesses to more state preservation money. The Historic District Commission supports this project and agrees that the Historical Commission should continue the process of having Lexington become a Certified Local Government.
