HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-05-13-2020-min 2020 Vision Committee Minutes of May 13, 2011 Selectmen’s Meeting Room Members present: Chuck Benson, Bhumip Khasnabish, Dan Krupka, Ann Redmon, Janice Frascatore, Alan Wrigley, Margaret Coppe, George Burnell, Richard Canale Staff: Candy McLaughlin Action Items: Candy will send out the questionnaire results from several years ago. Schedule focus groups with Chamber of Commerce (Janice), Rotary (Alan), and contact LexFun (Ann), TMMA Executive Committee (Barry) and LHS-PTA (Margaret). Everyone will brainstorm policy issues that Selectmen should address at their June 28 goal setting meeting. Meeting Began: 7:50 a.m. Revised March meeting minutes and April meeting minutes were approved. Focus Groups: The Committee plans to schedule several additional focus groups. Discussion led into topic of how to re-validate goals beyond focus group input, given that there have been small numbers of participants and the groups are not representative of the community at large. Community Survey: Chuck suggested that a survey could provide direction for 2020 vision going forward. Dan mentioned that Somerville has an ongoing program to collect data; he will call them to learn more. Richard said he was impressed with the response the School Department’s recent survey on transportation, and commented that people respond to polls about hot button issues. Candy said she will find out what response Arlington gets to their annual questionnaire. The Committee may want to create a subgroup to work on the idea of a Lexington survey. Input to BOS Goal Setting: The Selectmen have requested input from all boards and committees to their annual goal setting meeting in June. Richard mentioned transportation issues, particularly school traffic. Margaret commented that we’re hearing from groups that people want to participate more but don’t know how. Discussion will continue next month.
