HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-05-26-HPB-min-draft11 11 Lexington Housing Partnership Housing Partnership Board DRAFT Meeting Minutes for May 26, 2011 Attendees: Florence Baturin, Bob Bicknell, Harriet Cohen, Julie Duncan, Jeri Foutter, Tom Harden, Mary Haskell, Bill Kennedy, Chris Kluchman, Ken Kreutziger, Wendy Manz, Winifred McGowan, Betsey Weiss Chris Kluchman chaired the meeting; Harriet Cohen took the minutes. The meeting was called to order at 7:37 pm. 1. Update on MWCD Agreement An agreement has been negotiated between the Town of Lexington and the Metro West Collaborative Developers (MWCD). MWCD will provide a variety of affordable housing planning and production services at a rate of $50 per hour. Mr. Bicknell made the following motion. The Lexington Housing Partnership directs Ms. Kluchman to write a letter endorsing the agreement and suggesting that some of the MWCD services be applied in conjunction with the Busa Farm land affordable housing usage. It was seconded and passed unanimously: 2. Update on the Regional Housing Services Office The Regional Housing Services Office serves a 6 -town area, including Lexington. They have hired two new employees, Dan Gaulin and Linda Prosnitz. 3. Update on the Busa Property The Board of Selectmen discussed the Busa property at their meeting on May 16 meeting. They did not make a decision on the property. They will be taking a site walk on June 13 with the Busa Land Use Proposal Committee. Ms. Haskell and Ms. Walker are writing an op -ed piece for the Lexington Minuteman, supporting the use of the Busa land for affordable housing. They are targeting the editorial for submission by June 16. They will be submitting the proposal as individuals rather than as LHP members. 4. Leary Property Endorsement for HOME Funds Ms. Manz moved that the Lexington Housing Partnership recommend to the Board of Selectmen the spending of $117,331 in HOME funds on the Vine St. parcel acquired as part of the Leary Land. (The money will be used for affordable housing development.) The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. 11 11 Lexington Housing Partnership 5. Report from LHP Goals Committee The LHP goals committee, consisting of Mary Haskell, Bob Bicknell, Carol Marine, Bob Pressman, and Melinda Walker, provided a revised draft of the LHP goals, strategies and actions. The LHP discussed the revised draft and provided additional feedback. The LHP recognized both the quantity and the quality of the work of the LHP Goals Committee. Action: Ms. Duncan will revise the goals, strategies and actions per the discussion. She will send a further revised draft to the Lexington Housing Partnership members. Members who have further comments should send them to Ms. Kluchman. 6. Community Preservation Committee appointment. Ms. Kluchman moved that Betsey Weiss be appointment to the Community Preservation Committee. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. The LHP thanked Ms. Weiss for her continuing service on the CPC and in support of affordable housing. 7. Prospective New Members Ms. Diamond Hayes has applied for membership to the LHP and Ms. Nancy Sackman has indicated interest. More information on their prospective membership will be available in the coming weeks. The next meeting will be held on June 23, 2011. The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
