Minutes of Board of Registrars
Meeting of June 16, 2009

Present: Luanna Devenis [R], Chairman; Sarah Warren [D]; Jean Barrett [R];
Donna Hooper [U], Clerk Asst. Registrar/Asst.Town Clerk: Dianne Snell
Chairman Luanna Devenis called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.
Meeting Minutes
:

Sarah Warren moved to approve minutes of June 18, 2008 and November 19, 2009.
Approved 3 in favor, 1 abstention.
Board Chairmanship
: Following brief explanation of election of Chairman, Sarah
o
Warren moved Luanna Devenis be elected Chairman. Unanimously Adopted.
Election Officers
: Donna Hooper distributed listing of interested person to be
o
appointed as Election Officer for the upcoming year, and reviewed procedures and
changes in election officer rolls. Following some brief discussion and compliments
to those serving as Election Officer, the following motion was made:
MOTION
: That the Registrars approve the list of Election Officers as submitted
pending receipt of any additional nominations from the Republican and
Democratic Town Committee by July 24, 2009; and upon which time should
additional names be received the Registrars will meet on July 29, 2009 @ 3:00
p.m. to review names to the Board of Selectmen for approval. Unanimously
Adopted.
Assistant Registrars
: Donna Hooper explained long standing policy of appointing

staff persons of the Town Clerk’s Office as Assistant Registrar to act in the capacity
for the certification of signatures, processing of census responses, voter registration
processing.
MOTION:
To approve Town Clerk’s Office staff Dianne Snell, Lisa Maguire,
Carmelina Fiore, Karen Kruger & Nasrin Rohani as Assistant Registrars, for a
Unanimously Adopted.
period of 1 year.
MOTION:
To authorize the use of signature stamps of the board of Registrars
for use by the Town Clerk’s staff in the absence of the Registrars when signatures
are required. Unanimously Adopted.
General Discussion:
o Donna Hooper reviewed status of the 2009 List of Residents
and Town Clerk’s Office continuation to reach out to newly turned 18 year olds for
voter registration. Sarah Warren encouraged reaching out to new residents.
