Board of Registrar Meeting of
June 23, 2005 – 9:00 a.m.
Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Luanna Devenis.
Present: Luanna Devenis [R], Chairman; Gerald Abegg [D], Ann Miller [R]; Donna Hooper [U], Clerk
Members acknowledged the reappointment of Luanna Devenis and welcomed newly appointed Registrar Gerald
Abegg.
Registrar Signatures: Members voted unanimously to authorize the staff in the Town Clerk’s
Office to use the signature stamp(s) of Registrars in the absence of the Registrars for document
certification.
Election Officer Appointments:
Recommendations for 2004-2005 election officer appointment were discussed. The Board
reviewed the proposed list of election officers recommended for appointment. No names of
persons recommended to serve as Election Officers were received from either town committee.
Listing totals 164 persons, of which 23 are republicans, 75 democrats, and 66 unenrolled. Voted
recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Selectmen for appointment at an upcoming
July meeting.
Motion was made to approve the list of names to be submitted to the Board of

Selectmen recommended by the Board of Registrars for appointment as Election
Officers and adopted unanimously.
Voter Registrations & Assistant Registrars:
Registrars discussed voter registration at Lexington High School and reviewed
o
role of an Assistant Registrar. After a busy year, current Assistant Registrar
George McCormack [U]will be retiring this year. Discussion on need for
Assistant Registrar, and proportionate political party representation was
discussed. Members concluded no action for appointment would be taken at this
time and advised the Town Clerk to converse with Mr. McCormack on
recommendations for future years to promote registration with high school
students.
Town Clerk Donna Hooper provided update on Inactive Voter update process
o
and printing of 2005 Annual Street Listing.
New Business: Town Clerk Donna Hooper updated members on future election legislation,
handicapped voting, and upcoming election challenges. Election calendars were distributed and
dates for 2006 elections and voter registration deadlines were highlighted.
