To either of the Constables' of the Town of Lexington, in said County, Greeting: In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Lexington, qualified to vote in elections and in town affairs, to meet in their respective voting places in said town, (PRECINCT ONE EMERSON HALL : PRECINCT TWO, THREE AND FOUR, CARY MEMORIAL HALL) , ON TUESDAY, THE THIRT7T117TH DAY OF JUNE, A. D., at two o' clock P. M., for the following purposes : To bring in their votes to the Election Officers for the Election of Delegates to a Constitutional Convention called tb Ratify or Reject the Following Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, proposed by Joint Resolution of Congress: Text of the Proposed Amendment : "Section 1. The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constit- ution of the United States is hereby repealed." "Section 2. The transportation or importation into any State, Territory, or possession of the United States for delivery or use therein of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is hereby prohibited." "Section 3. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by conventions in the several States, as provided in the Constit- ution, withir seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States by the Congress." And to vote on the followirg question: "Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale therein of wines and malt beverages?" The polls will be open from two o' clock P . M. until eight o' clock P. N. And you are directed to serve this Warrant seven days at least before the time of said meeting as provided in the By-laws of the Town. • Hereof, fail not , id make due return of this Warrant , with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, on or before the time of said meeting. June 6,1933* To The Town Clerk, • I have notified the inhabitants of Lexin-rton by posting printed copies of the foregoing Warrant in the Post Office, in the the vestibule of the Town Office Building and six other public places in the Town, and by mailing a printed copy of the same to every registered voter in the Town seven days before the time of said meeting. Clerk Margaret Kennedy The polls were declared open in each Precinct at two o 'clock P.M. and remained open until eight o'clock P.M. at which time after due notice they were declared closed. The election officers were sworn to the faithful per- formance of their duties . The total number of registered voters in each precinct as follows; Precinct One Twelve hundred ninety-four (1294) Precinct Two Twelve hundred forty-five (1245) Precinct Three Twelve hundred thirLy-five (1235 ) Precinct Four Twelve hundred forty-one (1241) Total Fifty hundred fifteen 5015 The ballots were counted by the election officers in each Precinct, the tally sheets and total vote sheets prepared by the Town Clerk being used. The ballots cast were counted,enclosed in envelopes sealed, signed by the election officers, together with the un- used ballots , and delivered to the Town Clerk at his office. The Town Clerk and the members of the Board of Registrars canvassed the results as follows ; Precinct One- Total number of votes cast four hundred five(405) Opposed.
