Site Council Minutes 4/11/11

Friday April 8, 2011, structural engineer was in to look at the beam in the gym that has a
crack in it. Request was to be “better safe than sorry” and not use the gym. We are
hoping that the beam will be addressed during vacation. If the cost of the repair is more
than $10,000., the work will go out to bid.
This means the potluck dinner will be at the high school.
Dismissal is in the lobby, gym has been located outside or in the cafeteria, all school
meeting has been cancelled.
Updates from survey:
Some of the specific comments about staff (other than Louise) were taken out
74 people responded
It’s important to give people a vehicle to share their views.
How will we get information that came from the survey back to parents.
Reflective of population, are we getting a broad range of parent responses? If we are
getting the really involved parents, we have to be very conscious of the demographics. It
skews the data, although the data is quite informative. It may just be representative of the
most involved parents.
Louise had asked Site Council members to read and respond to the survey results and
consider the top 3 areas for focus and use for consideration for the 2011 – 2012 school
year.
We discussed forums for gathering more input from parents, perhaps by grade or
expanding the role of the Room Parents to add phone contact mothly.
