HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-03-17-TCC-min Minutes Town Celebrations Committee March 17, 2011 Town Office Building, Room G-15 Members present Suzie Barry, Dick Crogan, Linda Dixon, Mary Gillespie, Jo-Anne Granger, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Sandy Podgorski and Dave Taylor Members not present John Rossi and Jim Shaw Bill Mix, Henry Murphy, Charlie Price, Business  Suzie Barry called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm.  The February 17, 2011 minutes were accepted.  The March 3, 2011 minutes were accepted with one amendment. Patriots’ Day, Monday, April 18, 2011 Updates Dave Taylor Publicity is ready. Dave will distribute the information to the list of places he has compiled. Wayne Miller Wayne reported that AC & M Fire Equipment will send Acton Fire Engine #21 to participate. Greg Prescott will drive the truck. A motion was made and accepted to include the engine in the afternoon parade at no cost. Linda Dixon  Pastor Richard Capron of the Lexington United Methodist Church will be the clergy representative at the ceremony on the green. st  The 181 Engineer Company of the National Guard will march. Mary Gillespie Banner bearer letters have gone out. Discussion ensued about possibilities for making more efficient the process at the end of parade (banner return, pick up of children, etc.). Dick Crogan Lee Ann Swanson and Dave Loutman at LHS have sent out requests for student volunteers but have had no response yet. Sondra Lucente  Wilson’s Farm and the Youth Commission will work together on a float this year.  Sondra will call the Dance Inn to ask if they plan to participate.  We do not have forms yet from Wells Fargo and Youville, but both have said they plan to participate.  Lexington Field and Garden Club will enter a float with a waterfall. Paul Jenkins  A motion was made and accepted to include James W. Flett’s five antique trucks and Norm Aubert’s fire engine in the afternoon parade at no cost.  A motion was made and accepted to include the British Bren tank in the afternoon parade for a fee.  Paul will call the Massachusetts Military Museum. Miscellaneous  Suzie Barry will look into providing ice cream cone certificates for the banner bearers.  The Chamber of Commerce sponsorship letter has been mailed.  The committee discussed TD Banknorth’s request to walk dogs available for adoption in the afternoon parade. Suzie will talk with them about the committee’s concerns.  Motions were made and accepted to include  the Lexington Bedford Youth Hockey team in the afternoon parade with their banner.  VA Hospital van in the afternoon parade (application received).  the DePere High School marching band of DePere, WI in the afternoon parade for a fee determined by the committee (application received).
