Minutes of the December meeting were accepted.
Meeting was called to order by Al Zabin who introduced special guest, Nancy Earsy and
provided a brief history of LCRC and their history on discrimination around housing in
the community.
Mrs. Earsy presented the committee with an oral history on Lexington and Civil Right
including the open housing that was supported by some realtors in Lexington in the mid

planning in Lexington.
Jessie suggested that certain components of the event can be incorporated into
Lexington's 300 Anniversary celebrations.
Bob updated on inviting Senator Kerry to the event. Kerry's office said that he isn't
available in May and to call them after the event has been planned. They also suggest a
day between post election and before Thanksgiving.
Linda reviewed her handout regarding two options to consider for program design:
Option A — one day event to include the film Unfinished Symphony followed by Senator
Kerry and reception.
Option B — 3 -part series with First Event showing the video Struggle for the Green that
provides the larger historical framework at that time, Second Event — show Unfinished
Symphony, and end with Event 3 speech by Senator Kerry and reception.
Joe suggested committee members to go through the list in the hand -out and get in touch
with people they know to participate in the event.
Committee also discussed if we should have all the activities in one day or make it a
monthly event for a few months with an activity for each month.
