Geller, John Flynn; Burt M. Perlmutter Health Department Attendees: Gerard F. Cody, Health Director; Ann Belliveau, Health Clerk/Office Manager Sharon MacKenzie called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The Board reviewed the minutes of October 13, 2011. MacKenzie motioned to accept the minutes as written. Geller seconded. All approved. Environmental Health Report a)Macaron Sweeterie – New Establishment Cody advised the Board that Varujian Abalian of Macaron Sweeterie has completed a food plan review with the Health Division. All necessary equipment has been installed according to code. Macaron Sweeterie appeared before the Board to request a permit to operate a food establishment. After a discussion, Geller motioned that the Lexington Board of Health grants an annual permit to operate a food establishment to Macaron Sweeterie at 848 Massachusetts Avenue. Perlmutter seconded. All approved. b)Wilson Farm HACCP Plan and Variance Request Part I - Cody informed the Board that Wilson Farm already has a variance for the Reduced Oxygen Packaging and in this case, Wilson Farm has chosen the Vacuum Packaging method. Ken Ford of Wilson Farm explained that they wish to use the same process and add several items for this process. After a discussion, Perlmutter motioned that the Lexington Board of Health approves of the variance request to package deli related items as outlined in the HACCP plan dated September 27, 2010. Geller seconded. All approved. Part II – Cody then advised the Board that Wilson Farm would like to keep cut and peeled vegetables out without temperature control. There are other items such as apple cider and shelled eggs which occasionally do not meet the temperature requirements for cold holding (due to the large volume of product). After much discussion, Perlmutter motioned that a variance will be granted under time as a public health control once a list of food items to be included in the variance has been submitted to the Health Division on or before January 30, 2011. and any items exceeding the 4 hours will be discarded. Geller seconded. All approved. The Board reviewed the Environmental Health Report prepared by Kathy Fox. Community Health Updates/Reports – The Board reviewed the Community Health Report prepared by David Neylon, R.N., and all follow-ups had been done in a timely manner. State Sanitary Code Case Review Cody informed the Board of 3 new housing complaints. Order to correct letters have been sent to the property owners. RFP for Noise Engineer – Update Cody informed the Board that he met with the Garry Rhodes, Building Commissioner, regarding the selection of Cavanaugh Tocci Associates to do the Peer Review – Lexington Technology Park Ambient Sound Level Assessment. The Noise Committee, the Building Commissioner and abutters met for the selection process. Updates will be provided to the Health Division. A discussion followed. The Board requested that Cavanaugh Tocci Associates present their scope of work to the Board. Caulk Testing Project - Update Cody informed the Board that the air samples collected by E.H.&E at Estabrook School on November 10, 2010, indicate the levels of PCBs in the air are still decreasing. Monitoring will continue. Pat Goddard will be at the December meeting to provide a report of all indoor air quality ventilation improvements for all the facilities. Heiger- Bernays would like to have a letter prepared that documents the need for maintenance, a budget for maintenance and improved air quality. Cody updated the Board on upcoming flu clinics. Perlmutter motioned to adjourn. MacKenzie seconded. All approved.
