Town of Lexington Appropriation Committee
January 13, 2011
Place and time: Cary Memorial Hall, 7:30 p.m.
Members present: Glenn Parker (Chair), Joe Pato (Vice Chair), John Bartenstein (Vice
Chair and Secretary), Robert Cohen, Mollie Garberg, Alan Levine, Susan McLeish, Eric
Michelson, Richard Neumeier, and Rob Addelson (ex officio, non - voting)
Also present: Carl Valente, Town Manager; Joe Nugent, Town Assessor; members of the
Board of Assessors; members of the Town Assessor's staff, and numerous other
attendees
The meeting was called to order at 7:37 p.m.
The entire meeting was devoted to a discussion of the commercial assessment process.
Steven R. Foster, Senior Vice President and Co -Head of Valuation and Consulting
Services of Lincoln Property Company and a former member of the Lexington Board of
Assessors, made a presentation to the Committee, as well as to interested Town Meeting
Members and members of the public, entitled "An Overview of the Commercial and
Industrial Property Assessment Process." Mr. Foster distributed a 46 -page handout
containing a comprehensive set of the slides used in his presentation. Following his
approximately hour -long presentation, Mr. Foster, as well as the Town Assessor and
members of his staff, answered a number of questions posed by members of the
Committee and by other attendees for an additional hour.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:02 p.m.
