HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-09-17-LEX300-min Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee OVS MORN tioQ 11p l APRIL 19' Meeting Minutes September 17, 2009 Attending: Susan Rockwell, Richard Kollen, Donna Hooper Absent: Cindy Savage The Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee met for the first time at 3 00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009, room 111, Town Office Building, 1625 Massachusetts Ave Sue Rockwell, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 3 00 p.m. The Committee, a subcommittee of the Town Celebrations Committee, is charged with the planning of celebrations for 300th Anniversary of the Incorporation of Lexington as a town- March 31, 1713 (1752 switch from Julian calendar to Gregorian calendar) Members present discussed thoughts for possible subcommittees, participating organizations/institutions, and framework for celebrating the 300th anniversary of the incorporation of Lexington. Also discussed were possible new members to the 300th Anniversary Committee, including: - Jerry Michelson, liaison from Town Celebrations - Van Seasholes, schools - Jessie Steigerwald, school committee representative - Doug Lucente -youth and Lions Club - David Tabeling-photography - Denise Dube -publicity/news Establishing a private non-profit corporation similar to that for the Lexington Bicentennial celebration of 1975 was also discussed. A request to meet with the Town Celebrations Committee on October 7th was also brought forward. Listed below is summary of categories/events discussed.
