Meeting Minutes
October 7, 2009
Attending: Lexington 300th - Susan Rockwell, Richard Kollen, Donna Hooper
Meeting of Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee was held in conjunction
with the Town Celebrations Committee as an Information Session to review Patriots'
Day Events and the Lexington 300th Anniversary Meeting was held at Cary Hall, Cary
Memorial Building, 1605 Massachusetts Avenue
Representatives from the Town Celebrations Committee and various supporting and
participating organizations for Lexington's celebrations were in attendance
Sue Rockwell and Dick Kollen provided an overview and some thoughts of the 300th
committee
Participants expressed great interest in participating in the celebration of the 300th
anniversary of Lexington's incorporation and offered many ideas for possible
opportunities, including:
• September 2012 - 10th Anniversary of William Diamond Fife & Drum - Carmen
Fife & Drum Tatoo
• Colonial Ball- Beverly Kelley-Weekend of March 30th
• Group Photo on Battle Green- Peter Kelley
• March 30/31 -Good timing for an LHS music production-Jeff Leonard
• 2012 - 10th Anniversary of Liberty Ride - special for residents- Dawn McKenna
o Events to get to know the businesses, not solely retail, Greater Merrimack
Visitor's Bureau-potential funding$$$
o Corporate Sponsorships
• Lexington Bicentennial Band involvement-Jeff Leonard
• Lexington Symphony- season opener in September-fashion program to fit into the
celebration
• Neighborhood shopping ideas- Margaret Heitz
• $17 13 or $20 13 meals? - Suzie Barry
• Landmark or gift to Town for 300th - Doug Lucente
• mown Ball'- East Lexington Zepher team- Hank Manz
• Homecoming?
• Time capsule
