Lexington Board of Health Meeting, January 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Heiger-Bernays called to order at 7:00 p.m.
The Board reviewed the minutes of December 9, 2009. Perlmutter motioned to accept
the minutes as written. MacKenzie seconded. All approved.
PCB Caulking Update – Pat Goddard, Director of Public Facilities, updated the Board
concerning PCBs in caulking in municipal buildings and shared the test results from pre
1978 Town buildings. Questions were raised by the Board regarding data validity. Cody
will follow up with Goddard regarding specifics of the analysis and action to be taken.
Environmental Health Report
Dabins – Cody introduced Maureen Lee who Dabins hired as a food consultant. Lee
updated the Board concerning training of the Sushi staff to review procedures and the
importance of following the procedures. Lee felt there was a new level of acceptance
from the Sushi staff. The kitchen manager will now be following up daily with the Sushi
Chef to make sure procedures are followed. Another audit was conducted after
Christmas and there were no violations. Lee stated the requirements from the Health
Department have been completed. Perlmutter motioned that due to the most recent
successful audit, the case be closed. Heiger-Bernays seconded. All approved.
Kushboo – Cody introduced Lisa Berger, Food Consultant, hired by Kushboo. Berger
informed the Board that she has met with the staff on four different occasions and the
st
food handlers are very committed. A certification class was held on December 21 and
one manager was certified from that class. A full inspection was conducted
on January 8, 2010, Berger conducted a full inspection which indicated great
improvement. Berger conducted another inspection today and there was one minor
critical and two non-critical. Berger will be conducting two more inspections in
February. Cody mentioned that there are two hand sinks not being used and he would like
to see this issue resolved before Berger’s assignment is complete. The Board requested
that Kushboo appear before the Board at the March 10, 2010 meeting.
The Board reviewed the January 2010 food inspection narrative and completed inspection
list.
Community Health Report
The Board reviewed the Public Health Disease Report prepared by David Neylon and
appropriate action was completed. .
Cody introduced Namrata Singh, a physician from India, who will be doing an intership
with the Lexington Public Health Division until April in order to complete her Master’s
in Public Health from Missouri State University.
MacKenzie motioned to adjourn. Perlmutter seconded. All approved.
