HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-03-26-CEC-min Capital Expenditures Committee (CEC) Meeting, March 26, 2010, 8 00 AM, Town Office Building, Selectmen's Meeting Room Members Present: David Kanter, Shirley Stolz, & Ted Edson(Vice Chair) Members Absent: Charles Lamb (Chair) & Bill Hurley Others. Betsey Weiss (Chair, Community Preservation Committee (CPC) & Carl Valente (Town Manager) (part of the time) Ted convened the meeting at 8 15 AM. Reviewed the Town Office Building Renovation project as it was discussed at the previous day's CPC meeting. Betsy asked if there were any estimate for doing just the front, handicapped, entrance ramp and three handicapped accessible restrooms. She was informed that presently, there is no estimate for this limited work scope Carl stated that Article 13(c), Automatic Water-Meter Reading System, would be moved for Indefinite Postponement. Carl was given a copy of the list of the minimum information that the CEC would need in order to consider the project for presentation at future Town Meetings. Carl stated that a 4% cut in Local Aid, about $370,000, could be covered by the unallocated available funds of$400,000 00 The need for a more-inclusive 5-Year Capital Plan was discussed with Carl. Worthy anticipated projects should be included even if cost estimates were only of"placeholder" quality David expressed his objection to diverting funds appropriated for a lift to the Bird Room in Cary Memorial Building to correcting roof problems at Cary Memorial Library Shirley and Ted agreed with David. Meeting adjourned at 10 10 AM These Minutes were approved by the CEC at its meeting on April 28, 2010
