HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-04-14-TCC-min Minutes Town Celebrations Committee April 14, 2010 Room 111, Town Hall @ 7:15 pm Members present Suzie Barry, Sally Fisher, Mary Gillespie, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, Jerry Michelson, Julie Miller, Bill Mix, Henry Murphy, Sandy Podgorski, Charlie Price, Jim Shaw and Bob Tracey Not present Jo-Anne Granger and John Rossi Guests Linda Dixon (afternoon parade volunteer) Business  Suzie Barry called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm.  The April 7, 2010 minutes were approved and accepted. th Lexington 300 Anniversary A meeting is scheduled for April 23, 2010. Patriots’ Day 2010 Reenactment A third bleacher will not be added on the green. Morning parade The parade organization was distributed to committee members. Morning ceremonies  Jackie O’Connor and Luke Politi will be the Youth Commission’s masters of ceremony.  Bob Tracey will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  The Minutemen will add an additional volley after the playing of the last service song. Afternoon parade  We will march on Monday regardless of weather.  Middlesex County Sheriff DiPaola asked if he could include a truck and dogs and distribute stickers to spectators. All three requests were denied.  As of this meeting, we do not have enough banner bearers, though there has been plenty of publicity requesting volunteers. Mary Gillespie offered to go to Fiske School to recruit.  A truck will be available at the town pool parking lot for banner collection.  Two food vendors will be stationed in East Lexington prior to the beginning of the parade.  Due to illness, the Oxford Majorettes cannot participate this year.  The Cycling Murrays would like to enter the parade for a fee of $750. The committee unanimously voted to not accept them.  Wilson Farm will include its tractor in the parade. Their float will be entered in cooperation with the League of Women Voters. Memorial Day  In case of rain, we have permission to use Cary Hall for the event.  A Hanscom AFB clergy member has been asked to do the invocation and convocation.  The VA hospital administrator has been asked to be the guest speaker.  The committee is still discussing selection of a chief marshal.
