Meeting Minutes:
March 3, 2010
Present:
Tim Lee (Chair), Richard Friedson, Ginna Johnson, Brigitte Staines, Colin Smith, Bruce Creager, Richard

Call to Order:
The Meeting was called to Order at 7:30PM.
Approvals:
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved with minor corrections.
Presentations/Review:
Sidewalk lighting improvements at Cary Hall & Town Offices – Lexington Public Facilities
The DAC reviewed the proposed plan and fixture selections and had the following comments.
1. The DAC commented that the proposed fixture was too big and had too much detail. It was
suggested to keep the fixture size less than 36 inches in height.
2. The DAC commented that an energy rated fixture or LED fixture should be explored and used if
possible.
3. The DAC suggested adding brick under the pole to help with maintenance.
The Design Advisory Committee recommended the applicant return for further review after they have
made the suggested changes.
400 Patriot Way, Shire Corp. – Sign application
The DAC reviewed the three alternative sizes of the revised sign and had the following comments.
1. The DAC commented that it was hard to determine the appropriate size from the photo simulations
presented. The DAC suggested taking additional photos from locations where the sign would have
the biggest visual impact on off-site viewers such as several locations across Route 2 and the on and
off ramps to I-95.
2. The DAC suggested having three sizes of the sign or largest letter mocked up for DAC review at a
site visit.
The Design Advisory Committee recommended the applicant return for further review after they have
made the suggested changes.

Sign bylaw modifications
1. Committee continued discussions on modifications of the existing sign by-law and sign guidelines
