Town Celebrations Committee
March 31, 2010

Business
Suzie Barry called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm.
The March 3, 2010 and March 24, 2010 minutes were approved and accepted.
Patriots’ Day 2010
Reenactment
DPW representatives David Pinsonneault and Ronnie Russo said they will make a
ramp for Douglas House attendees and place it at the VIP area.
Ticket requests: (1) the Antony Committee has requested tickets for their
visitors (at this time, we do not know how many tickets are needed), (2) twenty
five tickets will be given to Hanscom AFB families of deployed airmen and (3)
visitors from the Bowman School’s sister city in Kenya will receive four tickets.
Morning parade

The Sam Adams Brewery is advocating that April 19 be made a national holiday and is
planning to solicit signatures from the Minutemen prior to the parade, which could
possibly cause a delay in getting underway. A suggestion was made to have the brewery
representatives collect signatures at another time.
Morning ceremonies
The Youth Commission will provide a master of ceremony and chief marshal for the
program at the green.
Afternoon parade
George Burnell will drive Chief Marhsal Marge Battin in his red convertible.
Parade sponsorship is going well. We have six new contributors.
Portable toilets have been ordered.
Golf carts cannot be driven until parade time.
The DPW will bring bike racks to create a handicap seating area adjacent to the
reviewing stand stairway.
Brookline Bank employees will volunteer at the parade.
The COA Young at Heart group will sing again this year.
Banner bearer information has been sent out and will appear in various
locations.
Jim Shaw will speak with Paul Rose about the availability of a truck for the
Reminisants.
Susan Bennett of the Historical Society said that the boy scouts will pull the
organization’s pumper.
Norwich University’s alumni office called to say that they are looking forward to
attending the parade.
Paul Jenkins and Sharon Spaulding will play one hour of recorded patriotic music
prior to the beginning of the parade on behalf of Steve Flynn, who is unable to
attend this year.
The end of the parade will be pushed back to the town pool parking lot.
A marching unit and color guard will accompany the US Air Force Band of Liberty
this year.
Vehicle update – The Bren gun carrier will participate in the parade for $275 and
nine to twelve military vehicles will participate for $600. Both motions were
accepted and approved by five votes and opposed by one.
General
The DPW will put the flags out on the avenue (but not the green) on the Friday
prior to Patriots’ Day.
Bill Mix is still working to locate fife and drum participants for both the morning
and afternoon parades.
Suzie began a job assignment schedule for the day.
