PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
MEETING OF MARCH 22, 2010
A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was held in the Planning Office, Town Office
Building, and called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Chairman Zurlo with members Canale, Hornig and Manz,
planning staff Henry and McCall-Taylor present. Mr. Galaitsis was absent.
*************************TOWN MEETING WARRANT*********************************
Article 41, Center Zoning: The motion that will be before Town Meeting will only deal with projecting
signs in the Center Business District. On a motion duly made and seconded, the Board voted to reopen
their vote on this matter and then, on a motion duly made and seconded, the Board voted, 4-0, to support
Article 41 allowing blade signs as of right in the Center Business District.
The members reviewed the Town Meeting recommendations and motions. They also looked at the non-
zoning articles that had not been reviewed previously. There were no additional articles that the Board
wanted to take a stand on at this time. It was agreed that they would revote their recommendation on
Article 32, the citizen article on establishing a Climate Change Committee, on the floor of Town Meeting
when they had a chance to see the final motion. The Board had previously voted 2-1 in favor, with Mr.
Canale and Mr. Zurlo in the affirmative and Ms. Manz in the negative.
Article 43, RD-5 rezoning amendment; Countryside Manor, Woburn Street: Mr. Hornig wanted to make
sure the Board’s recommendation to Town Meeting made clear that the Fair Housing Act prohibits
discrimination against school-aged children as discrimination based on familial status
****************************ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS****************************
Lexington Technology Park - Mr. Canale recused himself from the consideration of this matter as he is an
abutter to an abutter. Mr. Zurlo said he had attended the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) hearing on the
Definitive Site Development and Use Plan for Lexington Technology Park and the special permit with
site plan review for the 200 Building. He outlined to the ZBA the matters that the Planning Board had
called out in their report on the rezoning to Town Meeting. It was not clear that the Noise Committee had
reached a resolution on the baseline issue. Board members were asked to review the application for
further discussion at Wednesday’s meeting.
At 7:00 p.m., on a motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to recess to the Town Meeting and
adjourn when the session of Town Meeting adjourned.
Charles Hornig, Acting Clerk
