Lexington Police News Residents in communities surrounding Lexington have been victimized by a new "traveling thieves" scam. An elderly couple reported that a man came to their door, stated that he was working on the neighboring Church's fence and told them it was important that they both come outside with him. The victims followed the suspect outside and were there for about 15 minutes. At the end of the conversation he told the couple he was going to get them a business card and never returned. Upon returning to the house, the victims discovered they had been robbed. The suspect is a white male, in his late 30's to early 40's, with salt and pepper hair and he is "dirty looking." Remember to lock both your front and rear doors even if you are just working in the yard. This is one of many ruses thieves use to gain entry into homes. The Police Department has a list of all registered solicitors in the area. If you feel uncom- fortable or uneasy about someone at your door do not hesitate to call the non - emergency business line 781- 862 -1212 of the police department. All Town employees are required to carry Town identification with the Seal displayed in the upper left corner. Do not hesitate to ask someone to show you their identification.
