Re: 10 Pelham Road, Lexington, MA
T-Mobile Wireless Antennae Facility
At its regular meeting on September 1, 2009 the DAC reviewed a submittal for a new wireless
telecommunication s installation located at Youville Assisted Living facility at 10 Pelham Road,
Lexington, MA. The DAC’s main concern was the proposed steeple extension. The proposed steeple
extension is dramatically out of scale and proportion with the existing building. The DAC
recommended lowering and redesigning the extension and to consider adding additional architectural
elements such as a base to bring it into scale with the building. There were no other issues or concerns
with the proposal.
The Design Advisory Committee recommends this project be approved with the above-mentioned
comments.
Respectfully submitted,

Re: Crushed Grapes & More, Omni Food, 411 Walnut Street, Lexington, MA
Temporary Sign Application
At its regular meeting on September 1, 2009, the DAC reviewed the proposed temporary sign
applications for Crushed Grapes & More, Omni Food, 411 Walnut Street, Lexington, MA. Generally,
the style and size of the signs look appropriate for their purpose. The DAC is concerned that there are
too many signs out at the same time at this location and that certain types of signs should be limited to
certain locations for specific periods of time. The DAC commented that signs advertising products,
specials and sales are not events and prefer they be limited to store windows or at the very least be
removed daily from exterior locations. Many of the advertisement banner and sandwich board type
signs have been seen out consistently, including overnight, appearing to be permanent. The DAC does
not object to signs announcing special events remaining for the length of the event but suggest allowing
only one banner and one sandwich sign per event be displayed at a time.
The Design Advisory Committee recommends this project be approved with the following comments.

Re: Samuel Hadley Public Services Building, 201Bedford Street, Lexington, MA
Permanent Freestanding Sign Application
At its regular meeting on September 1, 2009, the DAC reviewed the proposed freestanding sign at the
Samuel Hadley Public Services Building, 201Bedford Street Lexington, MA. The location, style and
size of the sign generally look appropriate for its purpose. The DAC suggested the applicant consider
making the concrete base run the full length of the sign and extend slightly on either end. In addition
the DAC suggested having raised letters for all the text and placing the Town seal on a raised surface to
match the text.
