HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-11-14-CPC-min COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE 14 November 2007 Present: Betsey Weiss, Chair; Joel Adler, Norm Cohen, Marilyn Fenollosa, Wendy Manz, Leo McSweeney, Richard Pagett, Sandra Shaw, Richard Wolk. David Kanter, CEC Liaison, was also present. The meeting began at 4 PM. Two proposals were discussed: Hancock-Clarke House Restoration: 1. Susan Bennett, Executive Director of the Lexington Historical Society, gave a brief overview of the project and then focused her discussion on the various funding sources and mechanisms that the Society is pursuing to be able to fund the project. While the CPC appreciated the aggressive pursuit of grant funding, it was felt that it would be helpful if the Society were also seen to be doing fundraising in the community. Ms. Bennett explained that the proceeds of the Society’s year-end fund raising appeal would be devoted to this project and that they would be discussing other fund raising possibilities as well. Town Office Building ADA Ramp: 2. Peter Chalpin and Dave Cannon from the Town Engineering Department gave a cursory overview of this project. Construction of this ramp had been proposed in the 2006 budget but was deferred due to budget issues at that time. The funding requested now is based on the earlier expected cost as there has been no further engineering or design study done. The ramp would most likely mirror the one at the Police Department. It is unclear where this project fits in the priority listings of the Commission on Disabilities, Capital Expenditures Committee, or Board of Selectmen. th The next meeting of the CPC will be on Monday, November 19 at 4 PM. It is anticipated that the Town Manager will be present. th The Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, December 6 at 6:30 PM in the large meeting room at Cary Library. The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 PM. Respectfully submitted, Richard Pagett
