Board of Selectmen Meeting Room
Thursday, June 5, 2008
4:00 p.m.
Present: CPC Chair, Betsey Weiss, Joel Adler, Norman Cohen, Marilyn Fenollosa,
Wendy Manz, Leo McSweeney, Judy Pearson and Sandy Shaw. Also Present: David
Kanter, Capital Expenditures Committee; Joyce Miller, Conservation Commission; Rob
Addelson, Assistant Town Manager for Finance; Laurie Dell'Olio, Town Accountant;
Patrick Goddard, Director of Public Facilities; Donna Hooper, Town Clerk; Arnold
Lovering, Treasurer /Collector; Elaine Melahouris, Appraiser /Inspector; Karen Mullins,
Conservation Administrator; Karen Simmons, Director or Recreation; Carl Valente,
Town Manager and Linda Vine, Deputy Town Manager.
Absent: Dick Wolk.
The purpose of the meeting was for Stuart Saginor, Executive Director of the Community
Preservation Coalition to conduct a CPA Training Workshop for the Town of Lexington.
This session was designed not only for members of the CPC but for town employees and
parties interested in and associated with CPA legislation.
The meeting began at 4:10 p.m. Stuart Saginor shared a PowerPoint presentation that
touched upon the following topics:
• CPA finances and fund management
• Statewide trends in CPA adoption and CPA projects
• Projections for the level of trust fund matching dollars in the future
• Overview of CPA lawsuits in communities
• Discussion of the controversy over CPA recreation projects
• Major legislative changes being proposed to the CPA law
The meeting concluded at approximately 6:15 p.m. Stuart gave a copy of his PowerPoint
presentation on CD to CPC Chair, Betsey Weiss. The CPC will make copies available.
