Minutes for Meeting October 5, 2009

Present: Barbara Ciampa, Co-Chair; Louise Cady-Fernandes, Recording Secretary; Janet Post,
Corresponding Secretary; Sirarpi Heghinian Walzser; Jan Goplerud; Zoe Perry Wood, Co- Chair;
Jonathan Cue; Jackie Hawkinson; Marilyn Kolb; Liz Rozan
Absent: Victoria Campos
Call to Order
Barbara Ciampa called the meeting to order at 7:14PM.
Secretary's Report
The minutes for the September ‘09 meeting were accepted.
Treasurer's Report
The treasurer’s report is forthcoming.
New Business:
??Tonight Marilyn Kolb and Liz Rozan officially became new LCA members.
Marilyn will take over the treasurer’s position for Mary.
??Copies of our yellow brochure will be ready for the League of Women’s
th
voters Arts Program on October 15. Sirarpi offered to update the
information and get 50 copies printed. She will be reimbursed for the
expense.
??Shelby Kashket of LexMedia suggested to Barbara that a program for
local TV could focus on the grant awards to highlight the Council’s role.
Shelby will be asked to come to one of our meetings in winter for
further exploration.
??A grant review subcommittee is formed with Jackie H. as the point
person. They will collect the grant requests and meet to review the
applications and make recommendations at our November meeting.
??Zoe reported that she has spoken to Candy about our website. There is
an opportunity to apply for a grant from MCC to help us with the
financial end of a LCA site hosted on Lexington’s town site. A sub-
committee consisting of Jon, Sirarpi and Zoe was formed to do some
research and take us to the next step.
??Continued visioning about the future of LCA. An agreement was
reached to first focus on the grant process and then completing a
website before we venture into other ideas.
??Janet would like to relinquish her duties as recording secretary as soon
as possible. She has done a great job for 4 dedicated years. We will
need a council member to replace her.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:52 PM. Zoe Perry-wood will chair our next meeting on
November 9, 2009 at 7:00PM at Cary Library.
