HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-03-28-PB-min PLANNING BOARD MINUTES MEETING OF MARCH 28, 2005 A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board held in Room G-1, Town Office Building, was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Acting Chairman Harden with members Manz and Canale and planning staff McCall-Taylor, Tapper and Tap present. Mr. Galaitsis arrived at 7:00 p.m. ************************ ARTICLES FOR 2005 TOWN MEETING ************************ Article 4, Rezone Battle Green Inn Property, CB to CD: Mr. Harden reviewed his presentation to Town Meeting of the Planning Board majority's positive recommendation on Article 4, property owner Eric Shapiro's rezoning proposal for the Battle Green Inn property. Article 5, Center Parking Amendments: The Board discussed what Mrs. Manz might say about future Board activity relative to Lexington Center when she moves indefinite postponement on Article 5, Center Parking. It was agreed to communicate the Board's commitment to working to address Center issues in the coming year, in collaboration with the Center Committee and the Center Collaborative especially. Mr. Galaitsis joined the meeting. Planning Board Report on Inclusionary Housing: Mr. Harden asked for input on his report to apprise Town Meeting of the Planning Board's ongoing affordable housing initiative. The Board wants Town Meeting to know that it is endeavoring to develop an inclusionary housing policy and will actively seek public discussion on this subject. Ms. McCall-Taylor indicated that when the Board reorganizes at the end of June, it should probably review the plethora of Planning Board policies and guidelines that have been developed in recent decades by earlier Boards. Some may have been superseded by more recent documents. Others may not presently be desirable or practical. The Board can decide which are still relevant. Articles 20 and 21, Middlesex County Hospital Land Disposition: Mr. Canale indicated that when Article 20, Acquisition of Former Middlesex County Hospital Land and Article 21, Former Middlesex County Hospital Open Space come up at Town Meeting he will state the Planning Board's support of these articles. Following those remarks, he will speak on the subjects as the town's MAPC representative. On a motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 p.m. Wendy Manz
