• Update on Assistant Principal, Edwin Francois hire
o Ms. Corduck reviewed the recent process that was followed when conducting the
search for Assistant Principal that ultimately led to the hiring of Mr. Francois. Ms.
Murali and Ms. Loof who met Edwin during his site visit shared their impressions.
• For those who have transitioned to full, in person schooling; how are things going?
o Ms. Murali, Ms. Caravella and Ms. Dawson all reported their children are very
happy to be back in school with the full complement of their peers. Ms. Corduck
shared that on Monday, staff appeared nervous and slightly hesitant when seeing
all of the students at their desks. However, as the week has progressed,
everyone seems to have adjusted. This week, teachers have been encouraged
to focus on reestablishing classroom community, expectations and teaching
routines.
• Solar Project Update
Bowman Elementary School 19 Philip Road I Lexington, MA 1 02421
o The project continues to progress although it was scheduled to be completed by
Friday, April 9th, it won't be. Next week we will continue to need the same
adjustment to schedules.
Additional Questions Asked:
• School Hours
o A parent asked about whether or not the hours of school were going to
return to what they were originally identified to be. Ms. Corduck said that
was highly likely, 9-3:30 - Mon.-Thurs. with Friday being the early release
day.
• PLanning for Next Year
o A parent asked about the impact of redistricting and whether or not our
capacity would change based on enrollment. Ms. Corduck spoke about K
registration and how perhaps we may need to shift the number of sections
we have at a given grade level to account for small changes in enrollment.
• Communication of plans
o A parent expressed how important it is to know about school plans for the
fall as soon as they can be communicated. Ms. Corduck mentioned that
she envisions the CIT group to perhaps remain intact to address the
opening of the 2021-2022 school year.
• Surveillance testing
o A staff member wondered about how the voluntary testing is going. Ms.
Corduck reiterated that staff participation remains slightly less than 50%
and that the K-5 student testing was significantly larger.
Meeting adjourned at 9:10.
