Meeting Minutes approved via email on May 18, 2021
Agenda:
1. MCAS
2. 5th Grade Graduation
3. Topics for next year
This is the last meeting of the 2020-2021 year
Kristen:
MCAS:
1) MCAS is waiving the accountability measures.
2) Purpose for the MCAS this year is to look at the pandemic impact and how if(or not)
modification to the curriculum maybe needed. Data comes out in the fall.
3) Remote students can come to Bridge for the exam or take at home; amount of proctors
that we need is much higher than normal, yet Ms. Gray and staff have done an excellent
job to accommodate all the pre-work. (75-85% remote kids will take the exams remotely;
while others will come in).
New challenges and staff is responding to this. Ms Gray met with remote parents to
prepare for the exam at home.
Ms. McGibbon will do remote monitoring of the exams at home
Ms. Majors will administer exam for the kids that are coming in to do the exam
There will be data available to parse-out information on remote/hybrid learning, where
the exams was taken as well as where students switched the learning model.
5t" grade graduation: Many things worked really well last year, and the idea is to repeat the
virtual ceremony (kids can keep the video) and add in person experiences.
• Graduation virtually
• Car parade at 1:30 PM
• Kick ball game (class by class)
• Field day without getting all the kids together in the basketball court
• Small BBQ for the 51" grade kids
• Track meet for Bridge students only
• Fun adventure games/team build exercises rather than overnight teams (welcoming
Parent volunteers, so please sign up, 4 slots open per class)
Preparing for the Fall 2021:
• Pooled testing (Meg said that it has been impactful to have this program, though it is
resource intensive and expensive, funded by Covid fund for the schools and LEF). Will
inquire if this will be available in the fall?
• We will have for the first time, significant reductions in student numbers at Bridge school.
Currently, the registered student numbers are -330 kids (though this will change slightly
as the new families join Lexington in the spring/summer moves). Bridge may be looking
at 2 kindergarten classes vs 4. This will have an impact on the staff. Ms. Colella is
working with HR to secure as many possible transfers to other Lexington schools to
ensure we can keep as many as possible amazing teachers that we have. However, the
numbers across the district is low, so there will be an impact on staff, and Meg will
communicate as soon as she has more information.
