Update from Jackie Daley- DEi update Jackie DEI Team invited a student panel. There were 6 students on panel along with Johnny Cole. The selected students met ahead of time to Faculty PD-Student Panel DEI prepare. Liz one of the pane[members was a former student. It was very eye Solar Panel Project opening. The student shared that the Harrington experience was not positive. This forced me to reflect on practice but also acknowledge growth is this area. Full Time Return to School on April 5th Jackie(similar response) Do we currently have students that feel the same way. Vaccinations Karen-DEI is hard work,especially the learning the language. It can be uncomfortable but dialogue and conversations are ahead of most my work place. Jackie-The DEl work doesn't have an end poing,it's ongoing and ever evolving.It's important to the know the language when there are new terms. It's important to celebrate what we do know and also continue to push each other. Julie H.There is some discomfort with conversations but the overall experience has changed the boundries. When we start talking with children about identity the learning and growing is good but hard work. Julie S.Echo what Julie H.shared. The DEI work feels like it's never enough. Melissa You are doing enough and Jackie is doing a good job communicating with parents and that's an important link. Ryan Leadership needs to continue to recognize the efforts from staff and continue to recognize and invest in staff. Karen Don't stop doing this work! Jackie We don't have a Diversity Team...the work is embedded in what we do. DEI team is working in task forces on an school wide project. Michelle joined. Solar Panel Update Jackie We're waiting to see the impact on the school/students. Michelle Anything can affect some kids. Jackie Hearing impairment,anxiety,ongoing loud noise may impact some students. Full Return Jackie Last Friday requests due for learning model. -41 students from RLA to full time, 1 student hybrid to RLA ~Do have to move soe hybride students to another teacher, communication to parents today(3/18) —RLA kids will have a new teacher,classes are all gaining a few new students ~Met with teachers(team),and have had meetings with individuals Julie S.Shared excitement about new students joining class. Liz Shared number of students joining with her current class Jackie Today(3/18)teachers will received information about:distancing in classrooms,spreadsheet with building plan,other spaces for snack/lunch, lunch-cafeteria and art room will be used for overflow,strongly encouraging outsides spaces to be used whenever possible,recess-grade level groups can play as one large group after 4/5 arrival/dismissal-have to think about numbers,try to maintain pods Ryan What is the specialist schedule and where will the specials take place? Jackie Schedule is challenging but we are maintaining specialist schedule. Specialists will be zooming into classroom with classroom teacher in room assisting. Angelas has already rewritten curriculum-may travel to classrooms at some poing.We have maintained the 2:30 dismissal with prep time for teachers also maintained(2:30-3:30). Liz What about baskets for classrooms? Melissa-Canopies could incentivize teachers/adults to work outdoors which is better. Jackie Snack will kept at 6ft even when outside. Liz Need to use technology for majority of curriculum so getting outside could be challenging. Ryan I will look into outdoor wifi. Jackie Worth exxploring,will connect with Tom Martellone Vaccination Update Jackie Teachers want to get vaccinated...some teachers have big feelings and fear.Almost all staff have had at least one appointment for vaccine. Huge effort by CPAC to help teachers get vaccination appointments. The consensus is that teachers feel relieved. Next meeting 4/15. 51P 2020-21 HERE New business: Next meeting April 15th 2021
