HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-03-10-TCC-min Town Celebrations Committee Meeting Minutes March 10, 2021 Virtual Meeting Members Present June Baer, Chair; Glen Bassett, Suzanne Caton, Steve Cole, Linda Dixon, Mary Hutton, Cerise Jalelian, Gresh Lattimore, Sondra Lucente, Lorain Marquis, Julie Miller, Bill Mix, Geetha Padaki, Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering, Ashley Rooney, Wei Ding Members Not Present Karen Gaughan, Samita Mandelia, Wayne Miller, Rita Pandey, Sam Zales, Business:  June convened the meeting at 7:04 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct of public virtual meetings.  The committee approved the minutes of March 3, 2021 as amended. Patriots Day, April 19, 2021 Door Decorating Program  Geetha reported that the link to the form to register for the program and the guidelines is ready. She will send the link to the committee for comment but comments have to be returned by tomorrow, 3/11, because the link will be sent to the Town on Friday for posting on the Town web site by Monday, 3/15.  Geetha also noted that she has created a flyer for the program and will send it to the committee for comment.  Sondra reported that the committee is still working on details of the program.  Sondra noted that Jerry Michelson has distributed the details of the program to the Town business community.  Mary Hutton volunteered to write the script for the Door Decorating part of the virtual parade. Library Programs  Mary reported that the subcommittee has reviewed videos for the “In their own words” program. Details still being worked out.  Cary Library has added the John Rees (The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War) and Carol Berkin (Women in the Struggle for American Independence) programs to its calendar.  Ashley asked for photos from the Library programs to be used for PR.  Sue Stering volunteered to reach out to Carol Berkin to see if she has any questions about her presentation. Miles and Smiles Program  Wei reported that the committee has asked Town leaders to submit photos of themselves with the Patriot Pals images to be used in the “Big Reveal” of the program on 3/15.  Wei also asked TCC members to take photos of themselves with the Patriot Pals this weekend.  The CAALs web site will host an interactive map and also PDF maps of the recommended historical sites. Maps should be available next week.  Online registration should be available on March 22. Photos will be uploaded to the web site as soon as they are posted and voting for winners will start as soon as photos start being uploaded.  Prizes will be awarded for the longest miles and the most creative miles and voting will be by local residents.  Prizes will be awarded for best photos with and without Patriot Pals and voting will be by local residents plus the TCC.  Prizes will be awarded the week after Patriots Day. Patriots Day Parade  Lorain reported that 9 parade units and 15 civic groups have signed up to do videos for the parade.  Jim Shaw and Colleen Smith will narrate the parade.  The following parade units were approved: • Tony Barrie Band • Middlesex County Volunteers • Sudbury Fife and Drum Corps • Lexington Minutemen  Steve Cole described all the activities the Lexington Minutemen are doing for this year’s celebration. Pancake Breakfast (Boy Scout Troop 160)  Troop has announced their program. Publicity  June reported that the committee is working on planning PR for 3 months out. Other Business  The Lions Club is running their 5K race on Patriots Day  The White Tricorn and Minuteman Cane awards committees are planning to video tape their award ceremonies.  Hancock Church is providing a video of their handbell concert.  LexMedia will be rebroadcasting one of their 30-minute videos of Dan Fenn doing his Patriots Day talk. First Parish Church has agreed to the idea and will be notifying the Fenn family of the broadcast.  June asked TCC members to wear their tricorn hats and bring flags at the next TCC meeting so their photos can be taken and added to the virtual parade video.
