Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2021
Virtual Meeting
Members Present

Business:
June convened the meeting at 7:07 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct of
public virtual meetings.
The committee approved the amended minutes of February 10, 2021
The committee approved the minutes of February 24, 2021
Patriots Day, April 19, 2021
Library Program (Mary Hutton)
• The subcommittee is reviewing videos for the program within the week.
• A meeting March 5 will determine which videos the library can begin advertising.
Patriots Day Parade (Lorain Marquis)
• 12 civic groups plan to propose content for the virtual parade.
• 10 potential parade units are being pursued for the virtual parade.
• 5 units were presented for approval to take part in the parade
Dance-In video-no cost, Old Guard video download from YouTube-no cost;
approved.
Middlesex County Volunteers, video and Fife and Drum audio tracks; decided that
Sondra Lucente will negotiate.
Tony Barrie Band, live performance video, ½ band or full band; decided that
Sondra Lucente will negotiate.
Waltham America Legion, 4 min video from outdoor concert; approved.
• June will meet with Jim Shaw and Colleen Smith March 5 about doing color
commentary for the Virtual Parade.
Miles and Smiles Program (Wei Ding)
• High School students are working on the technical pieces, registration system, smiles
system, etc.
• Wei is reaching out to community groups to take photos with the Flat Patriot figures.
These photos will be used to promote and publicize the Miles and Smiles Program.
• Flat Patriot figures (there will be a boy and girl version) will be available on the Miles
and Smiles website.
• Wei will send the Flat Patriot figures to each of the TCC members to take photos in
various places to be used to promote the event. Due date to return photos to Wei is
March 15.
• Cerise inquired about whether TCC needed copyright permission for Flat Patriots.
• June will contact the Town Attorney to address the question of potential copyright
infringement and other matters.
Door Decorating (Sondra Lucente)
• The project is in good shape.
• Have contacted Jerry and Eric Michelson who will notify merchants through the
business associations about decorating storefronts in Lexington for the Patriots Day
celebration.
• Registration is all set, suggested themes are decided on:
Honoring the 8 fallen (on the Green)

Diversity
• Girl Scouts will be assigned to the committee that will be judging storefronts; will use
a distinct checklist the subcommittee develops.
• Bill Mix confirmed that “Hudson’s History of Lexington” states there was one black
male on the Lexington Green during the battle April 19, 1775.
• Geetha stated that a form has been developed for the basic information needed from
each entrant upon registration on-line. Entrants will take a picture and send it back to
confirm the decoration is ready. Then the committee of judges will travel to the door
and judge. Scoring criteria has been drafted and will be included on the judging
checklist. The on-line registration link is ready, registration starts March 15.
• Geetha will send the registration link to TCC members to try it out and provide any
feedback.
• Prize award process has not been developed yet. Several ideas were discussed,
including use of Zoom for an awards event. Sondra and the subcommittee will
determine the approach.
Pancake Breakfast (Cerise Jalelian)
• Pancake breakfast will be conducted virtually.
• The event details will be published on the Scout Troop 160 website; then Cerise will
get the link/info to the TCC.
• A pancake breakfast basket will be sold for $35.
• April 17-18 will be pickup at St Brigid or drop off by Scouts directly to the house.
Publicity (June Baer, Geetha)
• An older video (circa 2015) of Patriots Day activities will be used to publicize the
2021 Patriots Day program; also, still picture of historic homes; then each virtual
Patriots Day event / activity for 2021 will be described briefly. LexMedia will be
putting this promotional video together. The video is planned to be shown on
LexMedia link, Facebook and other methods to be determined.
• A small subcommittee will meet March 7, 2pm to discuss short-term and long-term
publicity for TCC events.
Other business
• Week before Patriots Day meeting is Thurs, April 15.
