First, we reviewed and approved our February meeting minutes. Next, Duncan Maloney recapped our most recent event, eyeglass cleaning that happened Saturday, March 6th. Duncan noted that we cleaned about 2-3 bins full of glasses, and had lots of people so we worked quickly. A suggestion for next year is to do an LYC collection of glasses which would help the Lions Club and promote town involvement. We moved onto our next event which will take place in April. Katie introduced our Flatbread Fundraiser night in which members could promote the fundraiser and spread flyers to get more people to eat at Flatbread on the night of our event. Flatbread is willing to donate $3.50 for every large pizza sold and $1.75 for every small pizza sold. Flatbread will deliver and no ticket or flyer is required to receive a donation. We then moved onto Tom’s Time. Tom shared about the upcoming curbside backyard Easter egg hunt which is happening through the Lions Club. He tasked members with promoting this to their little siblings, neighbors, or any other little kids they know to get the word out. There are 250 spots to fill for this event. Tom also mentioned a spring brochure coming out soon about the pool opening and to be on the lookout for that. We also asked Tom if there was any help needed getting elderly folks help scheduling vaccine appointments, however he said there are plenty of people on the job and no more need for help. Annabel gave us more information regarding our May event which is the Flamingo Flock. Our committee for the flamingo flock project will meet to discuss further details. Regina introduced the senior bus Rolling Rally which LYC put together last year for seniors who missed out on their final year/graduation due to covid. We are waiting for more information from the school regarding graduation this year. The consensus is if LHS provides enough of a graduation/appreciation for seniors, the rolling rally won’t be as necessary and won’t get as much attention. However, in case we decide to hold the rally, we will start preparations and getting materials soon so it will run smoothly if we do it. Closing comments: Ask Deb to fill out community service hours soon! Our next meeting will be Thursday at 7:00, April 8th. Respectfully submitted, Regina Tashjian - LYC Secretary
