2. Coronavirus Update- • Everything we are doing is aligned with the District
What are doing at Harrington? • Now it comes down to specific events
March 12th Forum * By Friday,School Counselors will have gone into
every classroom/grade level and done some sort of
grade-appropriate presentation around Coronavirus.
They are also offering additional support to students
with more elevated fears/anxiety.
Adjusted lunch/recess schedule to allow for
hand-washing prior to lunch/snack. Instruction is
impacted, but this is an important step to take.
• Parents are happy with the protocols that have taken
place.
• Melissa -are handrails being wiped down every day?
If so, can this information be shared with parents?
• Jackie-handrails (and more) are now known as
"touch points". Safety meeting yesterday-types of
cleaning, procedures, cleaners--all of these have
been included in Dr. Hackett's letters. Desks are being
cleaned.Wipes are being purchased for
Chromebooks.Admins are letting Dr. Hackett lead the
charge on communications of the "nifty gritty"
details.
• Ann -when are the buses being cleaned?
Jackie-they had a training on how to do this
• Ann -so are they just being cleaned at night?
• Jackie-is not sure. But it is being done. METCO bus is
also being done since it's a different bus company.
Barbara Hamilton asked for gloves, etc. since it's a
longer bus ride.
• Ann -can you explain attendance policy?
• Jackie- it is an unexcused absence if they just say
"I'm keeping my child home and my child isn't sick."
What DESE has said you will not"get in trouble." If
you need to be quarantined, it will be EXCUSED. We
will not be asking for notes from doctors. There will
not be any punitive measures if you keep your child
home-we are encouraging students to be in school!
• Melissa -does Harrington need anything?
• Jackie-.the online learning is being prepared in the
background as we speak. The message from Dr.
Hackett is that we have no plan to close all schools-
we are trying to avoid closing schools. If the need
comes to close, there are plans being made as to
how to continue education. Not just putting out plans
about learning, but also special education, services
for students, etc. If we are closed for 2 days, it's
different than being closed for 2 weeks. Plans are
being made and that's where we stand right now.
The Health Forum will be online tonight!
3. CIT Visits for Inclusion • We have a group of lots of stakeholders (parents,
community members, admins). We are revisiting
what inclusion looks like PreK-12.The groups are
going out to site visits (in district and out of district).
What is it we're doing, what could we do, how do we
capitalize on what we do well?Should we consider
rethinking things? Are we doing the best we can here
in Lexington?
• First visits started last week. We have been paired up
with someone and are not visiting our own schools.
Sara Cuthberson (sp?) with a parent will be here at
Harrington next Wednesday.
• This work started at Harrington/Clarke... then grew to
a sub-committee task force.
• Sara- how about co-teaching?
• Jackie-there are things to consider(budget)for us to
take that step
• Larry- looking for things that other schools are doing
really well and what we can adopt
4. 21 Day Racial Equity Habit Building • Issues with website not being initially accessible
