I. Welcome & Introductions - Jenny reminded members of the purpose of Site Council and the role they play in school planning. II. Recap and reflections: August 2020-March 2021 - We discussed what the focus has been the last few months of the year and the efforts that have been made to open school, create the two models and reviewed how things have been going thus far. The parents expressed their deep appreciation for the efforts that staff have made in order to make the school year possible. III. What's Happening: • COVID/Pool Testing Update - Jenny explained the process of the pool testing opportunity for K-2 students. • LEF Community Grant Update - On Monday, Bowman hosted a day of professional learning with Jessica Minahan thanks to a $7500.00 LEF Community Grant. Jessica met with a small group of staff who serve on our CST and modeled the use of a protocol that we can use to discuss student's who struggle in class. In the afternoon, at a staff meeting, Ms. Minahan provided PD to our whole staff. She discussed the role that anxiety plays in students and the influence it can have on behavior. Bowman Elementary School 19 Philip Road I Lexington, MA 1 02421 o Bowman Equity Collective Update - Recently, our staff have volunteered to participate in book clubs that are run by our BEC. The book clubs feature three different titles and staff self select which book club they join. The books were selected to account for where individuals felt they were at based on their assessment of their cultural proficiency. o Update planning for return to school (CIT) - We discussed some of the details related to the planning for the return of our K-2 students to school. Parents asked questions and provided feedback to some of the thinking around the dates. They also suggested that for students who are in the RLA and are then signed up for in person learning, how we can support their transition into school.
