Virtual Meeting
Members Present

Business:
• June convened the meeting at 7:05 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct of
public virtual meetings.
• The committee approved the minutes of November 4, 2020.
• June asked committee members to write up their activities and timelines for this year's
Veterans Day and give the write ups to her so she can keep a record of TCC activities for
future reference.
Martin Luther King Day, January 18, 2021
• Sam Zales noted that although the last few years, Martin Luther King was honored with
Days of Service, this year would have to be different due to the pandemic.
• All activities will be online:
0 9:00 am Opening Ceremony. Regie Gibson will be the main speaker.
0 10:00 am Community Conversation on Race will focus on healthcare
0 1:00 pm Unity Walk. They might consider doing a car parade.
o Afternoon activities will be done at home and delivered later
• Sam will send the committee more information about the activities and he asks that TCC
members distribute to their networks.
• June suggested that the MLK committee ask Cary Library to distribute information about
the activities to their clients.
Honoring Veterans Banner:
• The banner was hung over Mass Ave in front of Cary Hall from November 9 through 13.
Car Parade Recap:
• June reported that Jill Hai asked June to convey to the TCC that the Select Board was
very happy with the parade.
• Michelle Ciccolo posted pictures of the parade on her Facebook page.
• It was suggested that the same type of parade could be done every year since it is a good
way to get the veterans involved in a safe way.
• Committee agreed that the Boy Scouts did a great job in washing the marker text off the
cars after the parade.
• Committee agreed that the Girl Scout honor guard was very appreciated by the veterans
in the parade.
• Committee commended the efforts of member to generate publicity about the parade
since there was a good crowd cheering on the parade.
• Sandy suggested that next year we should include the TCC banner in the parade.
Patriots Day 2021
June asked the committee to start thinking about new ways to celebrate Patriots Day since
the usual activities will not be allowed due to the pandemic. She is looking for ways to
get the Lexington community to come together to celebrate.
Dance Around the World
• June noted that although funds were included in this year's TCC budget for Dance
Around the World, since it was not held, the same funds will be included in next year's
budget.
• A date in June 2021 is being considered.
• Geetha volunteered to gather information about the management and organization of past
years' DATW programs to help with next year's organization.
New Business:
• Wei Ding suggested that the TCC should do more to advertise the effort the committee
puts into the Town celebrations so residents know about and appreciate the hard work put
in by the committee.
• June agreed that the committee needs to reach out to the community to advertise the work
done by the committee, to encourage more participation by the community.
• Geetha noted that the committee has in the past made presentations to new residents
about the celebrations held by the Town, what they are, what is involved in producing
them, and how residents can help.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Next meeting: 1/13/21
