Present: Bonnie Teitleman, Ellen Cameron, Betty Borghesani, Julie -Ann Shapiro, John Zhao,
Sudhir Jain, Rich McDonough, Gerry Howell, Jyotsna Kakullavarapu
Staff: Michelle Kelleher, Hemali Shah, Suzie Barry, Bea Holland, Melissa Interess, Christine
Dean, Asmae El Alami
Julie Ann Shapiro called the meeting to order,took attendance and read Charlie Baker's
instructions on public meetings via Zoom.

Approval of November minutes
Staff Reports:
Michelle Kelleher, Senior Services Coordinator
• Finishing the year with grab and go bag lunch 12/17, New Year's 12/29 10-
1 IAM
• Author's visit(along with Cary library) Swimming to Antarctic Lynn Cox
1/26/21 6-7PM.
• Registration open for new zoom programs sign up 12/16 (See Sage or website for
listings)
Hemali Shah, Assistant Director
• Introduced and welcomed Asmae El Alami, the new Human Services nurse. She
will be in the office Tuesday and Thursday, remote on Fridays. She has a
background in case management and VNA. Her email:

• Sand for Seniors has 40 applicants to whom the Rotary Club will deliver over
next couple of weeks. Anticipate more seniors.
Melissa Interess, Director of Human Services
• Presented Human Services budget to Select Board
• Holiday meals- Lion's Club delivered 140 meals for Thanksgiving; Project Ezra will
deliver meals to roughly same people on Christmas Eve
Christine Dean, Community Center Director
• New software MyRec being implemented, help available by calling or online training
• Winter brochure and website up, 12/7 registration opens
• Center track has high utilization, town has approved night lights, masks required, signage
will be on site
Ate Friendly Initiative
Senior Parking Program
• Hemali sent out survey to 7 neighboring towns, 3 responded: Newton, Watertown and
Medford. Each offers a senior parking program. Julie Ann, John, Betty will request a
meeting with the parking management committee after which they will approach Select
Board.
Commerce Program/ Shopping for Seniors
• Ellen Cameron helped Julie Ann complete contacting all businesses for inclusion in
publicity Sage and Colonial Times.
o Ellen met w/manager of Stop & Shop; he donated 10 $10 gift cards to be used by
seniors
o Businesses were enthusiastic and appreciative
• COA will continue the program and look at building it out for future years
New Business
Introduction to Asmae El Alami, RN
Liaison Reports
Minuteman Senior Services - Bea Holland reports that Diana Bishop is doing great job as
assistant treasurer for MMSS.
Transportation-Sudhir Jain—Changes: MBTA has service cuts proposals that Rts 62 and 76 be
combined because of low ridership. Lexpress service will be reduced. Transportation Services
are offering virtual Q&A sessions 12/16 10-11, 1//6/21 10-11, 1/20/21 6-7PM, 2/3 10-11 and
2/17 6-7PM.
FCOA-Sudhir Jain and Peter Holland- Money has been transferred to Enterprise Bank; letter
sent out and donations are coming in; OWLL will offer 2 winter and 4 spring courses via zoom
(See Sage for details)
Commission on Disability-Bonnie Teitleman- Melissa Battite and her staff, Christine Dean on
Recreation and Community Programs; need for affordable housing for disabled and seniors;plan
to submit resolution to Town Manager, Select Board on disability rights
Human Services Committee-Betty Borghesani- Linda Zales is new chair; looking into
relationship of HSC with police and high school, reviewing police videos
Recreation Committee Ellen Cameron—Reviewing 5 yr plan, will be updated 2022 to make
outdoor space more accessible
Lexington Housing-Camille Goodwin- no update
Vision 20/20- Jyotsna Kakullavarapu -Collecting questions for survey to be done, Jyotsna will
send out request to COA members to submit questions for survey
Housing Partnership- Rich McDonough - no update
Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee- Rich M—now permanent member but having
difficulty connecting
Mental Health Task Force-Ellen Cameron- no update
Lexington Center Committee-Sandra Shaw- no update
Citizens Advisory Committee- Starting focus groups
Next meeting of COA: January 6, 20212:30 - 4PM via Zoom
