Right now we are two parent members short, so this will be a shorter type of meeting. • Slow-phased-in hybrid approach has started. All hybrid students have come in for one Lex Connect day. Teachers and students felt that it was a successful day. Students were a little concerned with staying with the same students all day and not being able to travel to other spaces. • During Blue Week, students are in electives with other students. • We will examine mask breaks and lunch to combine groups of students, keeping social distance but giving those opportunities for seeing other students. • Starting next week is the first full week for cohort B sixth graders. Adding a cohort each week. • RLA classes have started to go better. Synchronous classes can be mixed groups and that has gone well. • The blanks in the schedules during Blue Weeks are intentional for asynchronous work, and elective class homework. We are mindful that families are still dealing with a lot of unknowns, so using asynchronous time in place of evening homework time allows for these considerations. • An email will go out to families to announce a postponement of Back To School Night. We need more time to get ready since it was scheduled for the first week of October. It will be remote, so we need more time to plan logistics. • Site council typically advises on the budget. This year, we have had to put in for 3 supplemental positions for IA's and a Spanish position that have been approved. Both middle school principals are looking at student schedules to ensure that every student has a full schedule and decide if we need to ask for another FTE for electives. Staff Report: • Teacher workflow has changed significantly. There is no time to respond to emails during the day. Want to remind parents that teachers want to be responsive, it's just that there is little time during the school day. Member Input: • Parents report that most are happy with the phased-in plan and the screen breaks during the day. They are appreciative of the planning and scheduling, now that they have seen how it is actually working. Adjournment 7:30 am Next Meeting: October 22, 2020
