leen. The next version will be 17" x 22" and will have a larger font as well as new routes and
updated info on the existing routes. Also, Route K has been officially approved and will go on
the new map. GCC will coordinate with Recreation when marking the trail across the Suther-
land Woods playground, which is being overhauled. Also need to coordinate with West Farm
stewards.
• Bike/Walk/Bus month is coming up in May. This year we will include the Walk ACROSS Lex-
ington Challenge.
• The Conservation Commission will walk the proposed Community Connector from Cotton
Farm this spring - no date yet.
• Susan reported on the recent meeting of the ACROSS Lexington Trust trustees, and noted
that all proposed expenditures were approved. Discussion followed about where do funds
put up by developers go, and could they go to the ACROSS fund. Also, could ACROSS
funds be used for other trail projects. One potential use for funds would be the "You Are
Here" signs for ACROSS trails.
Current Business:
• 1040/50 Waltham Street Development Discussion took place regarding the desirability of
the town creating a general trails development fund to which developers of properties requir-
ing zoning variances could be asked by the town to contribute funds. Mark suggested that
the committee forward a request to this effect to his attention for presentation to the Town
Manger. Susan drafted an outline of said memo as the meeting adjourned and passed it on
to Keith for final editing.
• Gil Benghiat showed his Walk ACROSS Lexington Challenge website. Based on "peak-bag-
ging" this would be "trail-bagging" - walk all the routes and get a t-shirt (or something). This
activity can be in the Recreation Dept booklet for this spring. A link can be put on the Town
website to connect. People can start with the guided walks in May on Routes H (5/3), A
(5/10), and L (5/17).
New Business:
• ACROSS Lexington Locator Map project ("Your Are Here" signs) - brief discussion
Pending Items:
• Route M trail marker installation
• Bridge School boardwalk completion
• Wright Farm/Landlocked Forest trail connection
• Re-establish trail access on Cambridge Watershed land, Lincoln St to Cranberry Hill
Next Meeting: March 19, 2020, 4:30-6:OOpm, Hudson Room, Cary Hall
