We held our October LYC meeting on Thursday, October 8th, 2020. The first topic brought up
was our holiday raffle in which each member will sell 13 tickets at$10 a piece with a$1000
prize to the raffle winner. The money raised from the raffle will go towards supporting
Lexington families in need,we will pull the winner at our December meeting.
Next we discussed our can drive for the Lexington Food Pantry. Our goal is to donate 2,000
pounds worth of cans. The flyers and bags have been attached to each and distributed by Team
Leaders. The following people still need bags: Andrew Lawrence,Avery Cutler,Ipek
Kendercioglu, Mehr Khurana,Neeka Pirooz, Oliver DiCerbo, Marina Chen, Regina Tashjian,
Hobie Swan, Marilyn Swinger. After our neighbors have filled their bags with cans,we will pick
them up from our neighbors on Saturday,November 7th, in the afternoon. We will deliver our
bags to the C&W on Sunday,November 8th from 2:00-4:00pm.
We moved onto Madelyn Lucente's idea of the Chipotle/Blaze Pizza discount/fundraising idea.
Annabel Cincotta brought up posting on our social media accounts to give people the discounts
(Blaze Pizza and Chipotle are holding fundraisers where we hand out flyers for discounts and
they give us a percentage of the profit made from the discounted meal). Katie Devine suggested
we postpone this idea for the spring because we have a lot of fundraising going on in the fall. We
concluded we would save this idea for the spring.
Tom Romano mentioned the Community Center is putting together Halloween goody/food bags
in which over 100 people have already signed up to pick up. Deb was sending him the names of
four members.
Shannon DeGuglielmo closed the meeting by launching our Friendly Flamingo idea, she's
purchased a bunch of yard flamingos for this event. We are waiting for the spring for this event
as well for the warmer weather and because we already have the can drive idea in progress.
Our next meeting will be November 12th, 2020 at 7pm via Zoom.
Respectively submitted, Regina Tashjian-Lexington Youth Commission Secretary
