Business:
• June convened the meeting at 7:08 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct of
public virtual meetings.
• The committee once again thanked Lorain Marquis for her leadership during the past 5
years.
• The committee approved the minutes of 5/27/2020.
• June noted that she will update the TCC member list and send it out to the committee.
• Suzanne reported that storage space in the Community Center Carriage House has been
assigned to the TCC and items, including the Patriots Day sponsor banners, have been
moved into the space. Any committee members who still have items to be stored should
contact Suzanne about moving them.
Salute to Veterans Breakfast 2020:
• The committee voted to cancel the traditional breakfast since the pandemic makes
holding one this year impossible. June will inform the Select Board about our decision.
She will also reach out to the Rotary Club to let them know.
• The committee discussed various options for recognizing our veterans this year, including
reaching out to the local Dunkin Donuts stores to ask about contributing gift cards.
• The committee voted to investigate the possibility of sending letters and gift cards to the
veterans. June asked committee members to let her know if they are interested in
participating in this investigation.
Veterans Day Parade and Program 2020:
• Due to the pandemic, the committee agreed that any Veterans Day programming will
probably have to be virtual this year.
• Mary Hutton asked the committee members to email her with their ideas for virtual
programming. She will follow up and schedule a virtual meeting with interested
committee members.
• Linda Dixon noted that it would be nice to include a tribute to Dan Fenn in the Veterans
Day programming. Steve Cole volunteered to coordinate with the Fenn family about this.
Mary suggested that any tribute video should be a maximum of 5 minutes in length.
• The committee discussed other options for Veterans Day including having a volley fired
by the Minute Men on the Green, ringing the USS Lexington bell on the Green, having
veterans congregate on the Green (socially distanced) and having the Girl Scouts hand
them carnations.
Patriots Day 2021:
• June noted that the committee needs to start thinking about options for Patriots Day 2021
since traditional celebrations and parades may not be possible by April 2021.
• June will setup a sub-committee to discuss and develop options for April 2021.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Next meeting: September 9, 2020
Respectfully submitted,
Suzanne Caton, Secretary
