Tecton provided an update on the Police Station floor plans, two story design at approx. 33,000 sf.
The overall layouts reviewed with questions and answers about adjacencies and operational use of
the various spaces. Updated PBC that Town IT space was at this point limited to an improved
network room to support relation of the Town's network head end from 201 Bedford Street to the
new Police Station.
Question was asked about relocating mechanical room from lower level to second floor
undeveloped space to improve building resilience.
Tecton made a presentation on the use of insulated concrete forms as a possibility for application
to this building. The reported benefits could possibly be less waste in construction, less time
needed for erection, and improved insulating values.
Some examples of the use of this system were discussed. The first was a house project from the
show "This Old House". The second was 24 story building in Manhattan. Tecton did not have any
applicable cost data at this time, and would need to do an assessment of similar building
construction and cost benefit analysis to know if there was value in pursuing this system on the
Police Project.
There was also a brief discussion regarding Fletcher Field and the Hosmer House. It was
summarized that a recent evaluation of the Hosmer House / Fletcher Field site by a third party
indicated that the use of the Fletcher Field space may hold more value than the pl[-E;^,Em E of the
Hosmer House. It was understood that the Select Board would be meeting with the HDC to
further this discussion.
Infrastructure support is being considered at Fletcher Field; including water and electric hook ups,
and nearby restroom availability.
