Update on Parker Meadow
There was a public meeting held on February 24 during the meeting of the Conservation
Commission. Victoria and Michael represented the Commission on Disability. At that time the
vote was taken to approve plan B with platform A. Plan B refers to the accessible path being
over the majority of the trails but not all, omitting one area where the grade was of concern.
Platform A is the viewing platform over the pond and this one has the best sun and water
aspects. The Parker Meadow Project will next be presented at Town Meeting for funding.
Stakeholder Focus Meeting of Recreation Department
There was a public meeting to discuss how the goals of the Recreation Department
could be better aligned with the needs of special interest groups. Victoria and Janet
represented the Commission, and the other stakeholders included SNAP and LABBB. Janet
mentioned the need for the bleachers to be striped on the edges to help those with visual
issues. The priority for services was voted to be full inclusion for all programs and services.
Update on Town Warrant Articles
CPC projects include 10h and 10i — park and playground improvements. There should be
accessible water fountains and parking.
Parker Meadow is article 10k. Victoria plans to speak in support at Town Meeting.
Article 101 is Greeley Village repairs, which the Commission supports
Article 10m is LexHab's request for design funds to include affordable housing. The
Commission supports this. We would really like to see a comprehensive plan for universal
design and accessibility.
Article 11 addresses Pine Meadows -to make the clubhouse accessible and replace
fairway equipment. The Commission endorses efforts to make the whole course accessible. The
clubhouse was identified as a priority by the Commission several years ago.
Respectfully submitted: Victoria Buckley
