FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD
March 23, 2020

Present via Zoom remote meeting service: announced by roll call: Doug Lucente, Chair; Suzie
Barry; Norman Cohen, Alan Fields, Edmund Grant; Paul Shupe, Alan Wrigley and Melissa
Interess, Director of Human Services; Tony Serio, Assistant Director of Family and Youth
Services; Carolyn Kosnoff, Asst. Town Manager for Finance and Kim Katzenback, Executive
Clerk to the Select Board.
1. Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Discuss Fund for Lexington Fund Balances and Resources
Mr. Lucente stated the income balance as of February 29, 2020 was $4,020.72. After a
recent withdrawal of$2665 for rent assistance and recent deposits of$3100 donations,
the income balance will be $4,455.72.
Ms. Kosnoff provided an overview of using UniPay as a mechanism to accept online
donations to provide funds needed by the Human Services Department to assist resident
needs due to impacts of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Board was in agreement to proceed making such an online option available to make
donations to the Fund for Lexington. In addition the Board was in agreement that
donations made from now until September 2020 would be made available to assist
resident needs due to impacts of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Discuss process to Support Human Services
Ms. Interess stated that Human Services anticipates a rise in assistance requests due to the
impact of the Coronavirus on the community, such as rent assistance or grocery card.
She said the quickest access to funds for Human Service to provide such assistance is
through the Human Services Emergency Fund account.
Ms. Barry proposed the amount of$25,000 to be put into the Human Services Emergency
Fund. Upon discussion, each Fund for Lexington Board member was in agreement.
Upon a motion duly made and seconded, by roll call vote, the Fund for Lexington Board
voted 7-0 to approve $25,000 to be put into the Lexington Human Services Emergency
Fund account.
2. Ratify Human Services Request—Rent Assistance $2665
Upon a motion duly made and seconded, by roll call, the Fund for Lexington Board voted
6-0, to ratify the vote of$2665 Rent Assistance request submitted by Human Services.
Mr. Wrigley abstained from the vote.
