Executive Committee Meeting
Board of Library Trustees
October 6, 2004
Minutes
The Rev. Dr. Peter H. Meek called the meeting to order at 8:05 AM. Present
from the Executive Committee were: Scott Burson, Vice-Chairman, William
Kennedy, Helen Cohen, and Dawn McKenna. Present from the staff were: Carol
A. Mahoney, Director and Cynthia_Johnson, Assistant Director.
Carol Mahoney solicited comments on copies of the invitation to the dedication
ceremonyplanned for November 14 that she distributed as well as a sample of
the dedication plaque from Wellesley Free Library that was passed around.
There was discussion about the wording on the plaque and the difficulty of listing
the names of everyone involved on the various boards because of the length of
time covered by the project. It was decided that recognition should be limited to
the name of the board, i.e. Board of Library Trustees: and the dates involved, i.e.
1'995-2004. The dedicatory plaque will go on the wall'in the foyer facing
Massachusetts Ave. and adjacent to the wall bearing the names of the donors.
Ms. McKenna asked if eventually there would be a plaque listing the names of all
the donors in addition to those on the donor wall which honors those who gave
$1000. or more. Ms. Mahoney responded that there were no.plans for such a
thing and said that the listing of names on the donor plaque represented a policy

Burson suggested that all the donors be listed in a booklet to be distributed at the p ali�v
dedication ceremonies. The other members of the Executive committee
with this suggestion.

Ms. McKenna asked haw they would decide on the exact rding for tf
dedication plaque for the library and Mr. Burson, who had already prepared a
sample text promised to circulate it among members of the Executive Committee .
for their approval.
A general invitation to the public to attend the dedication festivities on Nov. 14,
2004 will be printed in the paper.
Ms. McKenna asked if there were an direct descendants of the Ca '
Y Cary family who
could be invited to the ceremony. Ms. Mahoney and Ms. Johnson said that they
would check.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50
