Business:
• The chair reported that a quorum was present.
• The minutes of the meeting of February 26, 2020 were approved.
Patriots' Day 2020 (April 18 —20):
• It's time to think about the parade lineup plan. Lorain provided a color-coded chart
identifying musical units. This will be a big help in placement planning.
• Lorain was happy to report that she has successfully recruited two bagpipe bands, to the
delight of sponsor Kirkland and Shaw Plumbing.
• Sandy distributed the finished schedule for Patriots Weekend along with a flyer.
• Paul Jenkins and Steve Cole are recommending the committee invite a group of special
needs individuals to occupy some of the vacant seats on the bleachers on Parade Day.
• One unit(Lexington Pride) has requested transportation assistance for some participants
in wheelchairs from the high school parking lot to their parade lineup position. C&S
Transportation has specially-equipped buses and may be able to help.
• Mary Hutton is unable to coordinate buses at the LHS parking lot this year. We will need
to recruit a new volunteer for this job.
• Sondra is still negotiating with the New England Patriots on payment arrangements for
the Patriots mascot Pat Patriot to appear in the parade.
• Sue Stering has identified another classic car group and will invite them to participate in
the parade.
• Kim and Linda have reviewed the inventory of remaining tee shirts for Parade
Ambassadors and Kim will order enough to replenish our supply.
• Steve reported that the William Diamond Fife and Drum Corps are unable to perform on
Saturday afternoon at Tower Park. This led to a discussion about the Tower Park
reenactment and it was concluded that this event falls under the jurisdiction of the
Lexington Minute Men; therefore, unless invited, the TCC will not initiate plans for a
3:00 program at Tower Park.
• The Town Bylaws specifically prohibit the firing of weapons during the parade. This
message must be made clear to all marching units, in particular the Lexington Minute
Men, who regularly fire their weapons along the parade route.
• To clarify the committee's policy of allowing flags of other nations to be carried in the
parade: marching units are permitted to display the flag of another nation as long as the
American flag is also displayed and in a superior position.
