HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-02-12-TCC-min Town Celebrations Committee Meeting Minutes February 12, 2020 Lexington Community Center Members Present Lorain Marquis, Chair; Suzanne Caton, Kim Coburn, Linda Dixon, Karen Gaughan, Cerise Jalelian, Paul Jenkins, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Sandy Podgorski Members Not Present June Baer, Glen Bassett, Wei Ding, Mary Hutton, Gresh Lattimore, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Geetha Padaki, Rita Pandey, Ashley Rooney, Sue Stering, Dave Taylor, Bob Tracey, Sam Zales Business:  The minutes of January 29, 2020 were approved.  Lorain announced that the Patriots Day stakeholders meeting will be held on Thursday, 2/13, at 10 am at the Town Offices.  Lorain noted that she attended a joint meeting with the Arlington and Concord Patriots Day committees. Patriots’ Day 2020 (April 18 – 20):  Linda Dixon announced that Peter and Beverly Kelley have agreed to be the Grand Marshalls for this year’s parade.  Lorain announced that all the permission requests for Patriots Day activities have been approved by the Select Board and Town management.  Lorain reported that up to 30 seats can be set up on the reviewing stand. 150 seats on two bleachers are also available. The committee discussed moving the bleachers to the other side of the street so they will be in the shade. Lorain will bring up the issue at the stakeholders meeting on 2/13.  Sandy Podgorski distributed the most recent draft of the Patriots Day Weekend schedule and reminded the committee that February 15 is the deadline for including the 2020 schedule of events to be included in the next Recreation Department publication.  Kim Coburn will send contact information for Old Colony Pipe and Drum to Lorain to ask them to participate in the parade.  The committee asked Lorain to clarify what the Town’s position is on marching groups carrying the flag of another country in the parade.
