Patriots’ Day 2020 (April 18 – 20):  Lorain reported that she is meeting with Sharon Spaulding on March 2 to discuss reviewing stand issues.  Sandy Podgorski announced that we can have only ½ page for the Patriots Day schedule in the Lexington Recreation Dept.’s Spring brochure although in past years we have had a full page. She distributed a sample of the schedule for the brochure to the committee for comment.  Sandy noted that Ashley Rooney will send the Patriots Day weekend schedule to the Minuteman paper in 4 weeks. Sandy also noted that she will hand off the schedule to Sean Dugan on March 4 for him to send to the Colonial Times.  Steve Cole passed around to the committee information about hiring “Pat the Patriot” to march in the parade. Sondra Lucente will follow up on asking “Pat” to march this year.  The committee discussed whether to have any entertainment before the Tower Park re- enactment on Saturday, 4/18. It was decided to ask the William Diamond Jr. Fife & Drum Corp to perform from 3 to 3:30 pm. Steve Cole will contact them to arrange it.  Linda Dixon and Geetha Padaki will work on the Parade Ambassador program. Kim asked if more T-shirts were needed and Linda said she would check and let Kim know.  The committee discussed hiring a videographer to document the parade. It was recommended that we ask Lex Media if they could take the type of video that the TCC needs and from the best vantage point. Linda volunteered to contact Lex Media about the issue.  As part of the discussion about documenting the parade units, June Baer noted that Wei Ding will take photos of the crowds attending both the morning and afternoon parades in order for the committee to have data on attendance for the parades.  June Baer reported on her research on the use of national flags in the parade. The committee agreed that any national flags can be carried by marching units, with the caveat that if the American flag is also carried by a unit, the other national flag must be carried lower than the American flag.  Suzanne Caton noted that the sponsorship letter and form are ready to be sent and asked for volunteers to help stuff envelopes. She also reminded the committee that we have 3 sponsors from last year who asked for a credit for this year’s parade because of the problems with last year’s parade.  The committee asked that the policy regarding political campaigns participating in the parade be clarified. June Baer will review past committee meeting minutes to clarify the policy.
