She will help Julie Miller with communications with the Town concerning Patriots Day. • Lorain announced that Jill Hai is assisting the committee to find storage space for Patriots Day banners, and other equipment needed by the committee. Patriots' Day 2020 (April 18 —20): • Lorain announced that the stakeholders meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, at 10 am at the Town Offices. She encouraged committee members to attend. Lorain also asked for additional suggestions about who to invite. The committee suggested inviting representatives of the Minuteman Cane Award committee and the Youth Commission. • Linda Dixon suggested asking Peter and Beverly Kelley to the Grand Marshalls for this year's parade. The committee agreed with her suggestion and either Linda or Lorain will follow up with the Kelleys. • Lorain announced that all the permission requests for Patriots Day activities have been approved by the Select Board and Town management. • Lorain asked committee members to confirm whether or not they will be available on Patriots Day to assist with the parade. • Sondra reported that the Shriners have offered to provide all their marching units for this year's parade at the same price as last year. Lorain will send them an application package. • Lorain noted that Cerise will be ordering the various tickets for Patriots Day activities soon. Lorain asked if the committee thought that we should eliminate tickets for the bleacher seats next to the reviewing stand. Committee consensus was to eliminate those tickets. • The committee discussed ongoing issues with the reviewing stand, in particular the fact that the VIPs invited to sit on the reviewing stand have declined to do so in recent years. Steve Cole suggested that the committee invite special community groups to sit on the stand, such as the SNAP Chorus or groups serving disabled children. Steve volunteered to follow up with some groups that he is associated with. • Lorain will find out how many seats are on the reviewing stand. • There was some discussion about whether to ask fife and drum groups that will be participating in the Patriots Day Parade to also perform at Tower Park on Saturday, April 18, before the re-enactment of the British retreat. Lorain asked Mary Hutton and Steve Cole to contact the William Diamond Fife and Drum Corp about performing on 4/18. • The committee also discussed whether to invite the Williamsburg Fife and Drum and Michigan Fife and Drum groups to perform on 4/18. • Sandy Podgorski announced that February 15 is the deadline for including the 2020 schedule of events to be included in the next Recreation Department publication. • June distributed a color-coded roster of marching units from 2019 which will help the committee decide how many musical marching units to invite to this year's parade. • Steve Cole asked that the DAR marching unit be placed directly behind the Minutemen because they share a float. • Geetha volunteered to look into doing a video about Patriots Day again this year.
